My username is a name folks use for a nickname of my surname and my favorite animal. It originally was SparkMonkey, but when I started up my Tumblr that was taken and I used Sparkiemonkey instead. I think a lot of people's usernames often have to change due to someone else taking it. I think that's also where you get a lot of cool, quirky names come from. Though I could have and probably should have come up with a play on the word Simian because I love all of them and it has the word SIM in it. Too late now though, the name stuck and it's kinda comfy now! Oh well, it's the thought that counts. We can't all be blessed with clever usernames.

In case others are interested in the older thread that discusses forum user names, here it is (linked to my post, to explain where mine came from ) Thanks for letting me know! I'm going to have to go through and read about the origins of some of my favorite creators' names!

Woah! We've been nearly three months overdue for a new prompt. With the release of a new game "StrangerVille" (I haven't gotten a chance to get my hands on it yet so no spoilers), the pack, for me at least, sends me back to reflect on the many mysteries that have appeared throughout the Sims franchises. Which leads me to today's prompt: What is your favorite piece of Sims lore from any Sims game and why? It can be canonical or it could be a fan theory. With the Sims 2, there are plenty of lores to explore. Many of us were instantly reminded of the Sims 2 Strangetown when he heard news about StrangerVille (though, I don't know if the game pack has any references beyond a mysterious desert town). From Strangetown, my favorite family has always been the Specter family. There's a lot to unpack in that lot from the several graves with clever names (Earl. E. DeMise, Hugh Thanasia, Rigger Mortis, etc.), the fact that Olive woohoo'd with the Grim Reaper and possibly bore a child from him only to have that child taken away by social services and used as a test subject by mad scientists in the town. I also love the fan theory that she may have been a serial killer since all of her husbands just unexpectedly passed away after the wedding. There's plenty to love with this family, but I mostly just love the dark undertones surrounding the family. They have appeared in the Sims 3, but I don't think those versions do the family justice. It's a wonderfully mysterious family within a spooky home surrounded by dark secrets.

I guess none of y'all are into simspiracy-theories. That's fine, my bad for making the prompt a bit too specific. This time around, let's get a bit more broad! I thought, for this prompt, I'd ask a question to get to know all of you better! As always, you don't have to answer this prompt, you can answer any of the previous ones (or even change your answer) or just say anything at all! The prompts are only there to stimulate conversation, that's all! Anywhere, here it is: What are some of your hobbies outside of playing/modding the sims? If you are a hobby-less husk, then talk about what you'd LIKE to do as a hobby if you could do anything. For me, outside of sims, I do a lot of sewing and DIY projects. I don't think I'm anywhere near good enough to open up an etsy or anything, but I do have a lot of fun buying thrifted clothes, ripping them apart and sewing different things onto them. Here's an example of something I made: Beyond that, I like to draw, take pictures, play the piano and pretty much anything that's creative. I'm sort of a jack-of-all-trades, I like to hop from project to project most of the time. However, the thing I'm most passionate about is writing. You can check out some of my stories HERE if you want.
That's about all for me. Now it's your turn!

Other than working as a manager of an Auto Mechanic Garage, I like to drive ... fast! The twin turbo, 5 on the floor short shift is my object of choice ... and the more twists, turns and hills in the mix, the better. When I'm home, I draw original patterns for stained glass, create items in glass that defy gravity or give illusion, and have a stained glass business to go along with it. Examples of my work? You can find them on my FB page ... Inspirations Glass & GiftsI love your creation of the shirt, deathpoke1qa, and I know from years of being on Etsy / FB, that doing that sort of thing to stuffed animals creates amazing new creations that others DO purchase. You could even make the clothing to go on the stuffies if you so desired, and make yourself a tidy profit for your troubles.

I checked out your facebook page and wow your designs are so cool! I've always been so fascinated by stained glass. I think a local shop offers lessons and seeing your work makes me want to go and take the class! Great work! I love your creation of the shirt, deathpoke1qa , and I know from years of being on Etsy / FB, that doing that sort of thing to stuffed animals creates amazing new creations that others DO purchase. You could even make the clothing to go on the stuffies if you so desired, and make yourself a tidy profit for your troubles. Thank you for your kind words! I guess I should've elaborated more: I didn't say I wouldn't sell my crafts because I thought they didn't look cool. I only said that because I don't have a sewing machine, everything is handsewn--poorly handsewn. Half of them don't even survive the washing machine. At this point in time, I'm not confident enough in the quality of my work to sell it to another person. But thanks again for the encouraging words!

Thank you so much deathpoke1qa, I also teach stained glass and have several tutorial videos on YouTube. Once you get the basics down, you are off to the races ... it's just practice! Your local shop is a great place to start, as it gives you the tools and machinery necessary so you don't have to invest much to start out. It is expensive, but so worth it. Your photo of the shirt showed a stitch called "whip stitch", just a little difference in the stitches would give you the security necessary for survival of the washing machine. Easy peasy stuff ... I'd be happy to help you if you felt you wanted to give it a go. Read more: sims4studio.com/thread/16725/curtains-request?page=1#ixzz5kHYqGqSV

It's been a couple months and I think it's time for a new prompt! As always, the prompts are meant to stimulate conversation, but you can just say hi whenever you want. Also, you can answer any previous prompt if you missed one or thought of something else to say. I'll try to be a bit more consistent with these prompts, but we'll see. Anyway, here we go: What is your playing style for the Sims? Do you prefer to just create sims, build lots, play in live mode, only use it for cc or a combination of the four? For me, I'm pretty much a jack of all trades when it comes to playing style. Sometimes I'll open up the game, spend a lot of time making a sim and then close the game. Sometimes I go on a building spree but then never play in them. Other times I won't even play the actual game, I'll just work on custom content for it. However, generally, I do like to make a family and then actually play around with them for a little bit. I've never tried doing a legacy challenge and I usually play with cheats and have aging (and free will) turned off just so I can go at my own pace. That's how I enjoy playing the sims, at least. It's super relaxing.

mmm well let's see my style starts creating my sims where I spend a lot of time until it is adorable never build because my houses are always horrible XD, but the clutter can not be missing for me play the game because only when I have a story up to date but I have a problem that I do not know why: I always forget how my story begins ... (I'm trying to improve that) the only story that I could really finish was where my sim Alma participated I do not play with tricks of money or age but if it has to be for a story where the character is always of an age if the user in terms of creating content for the game now I take a break because my mouse did not work the battery (but now if yay!) eh wait .. I already said anything that had nothing to do with the question xD but if I play also with custom content from others especially lipsticks but I also like what the game brings so that is my style of play is the combination of 3 things because I hate having to put furniture or windows because it never fits me well and I do not want to learn haha I once wanted to do a legacy but ... I do not serve for that reason for the previous reason

However, even though I like to play sims, I only play them for an extended amount of time if I have a big story to it or something like you. I hope you're able to get back into making cc soon!

hahaha the youtubers like srasimmer, mprin or fritosaurio do not know how they do it (I know they have someone called deligracy) they know how to build well XD hehe maybe but I want to make content for sims 2 and sims 3 too (although it's nothing you say oh it's a quality mesh) but I'm satisfied for now nee, absolutely all sims games have to be active content so that all the fans of custom content do not have to just choose sims 4 but in order that I do not like to deviate the subject, hopefully someone else of his opinion :3

It's fine if you don't want to work on sims 4 for right now! As you said, all the communities for all the sims games are active, so you'll have a big audience no matter which game you choose to work on!

Just to touch on your point in the OP, isn't there a forum dedicated to asking questions for various topics? I'm surprised that nobody's jumped on this (incl. the 50-posts-before-you-can-post-bugs-and-stuff rule) given the date that some of those topics were created... I feel like it kind of hurts the forum to have General completely bombarded with questions that could maybe be posted elsewhere.
But I digress.
Anyway, my favourite Sims game was probably Makin' Magic. I absolutely loved that EP and it's what got me well and truly hooked as a kid. I'm now pushing 30 (haha, yikes) and still can't stop playing.
Also if you're into comedic gaming channels on YouTube, CallMeKevin is an absolute hoot when he plays The Sims. I've rolled around on the sofa crying at his antics many a time. There's a bizarre innocence about him and yet sometimes he comes out with some pretty dark (but age-appropriate) stuff.

I feel like it kind of hurts the forum to have General completely bombarded with questions that could maybe be posted elsewhere. I completely agree with you on your points. That being said, Pandora's box has sort of already been opened long before I arrived onto this website and pretty much all the places where people can post have been flooded with questions about X, Y and Z. While there is a place to ask for help with your project, there isn't a place to ask about the sims in general, this website, problems with S4S itself and everything in between. That's why those questions get shepherded to other forums. That being said, that's exactly what I'm trying to counterbalance with this thread! But also just because I really want to see more interactions between all the amazing creators on the forums! But I digress. Anyway, my favourite Sims game was probably Makin' Magic. I've heard nothing but good things about that pack! I have Sims 1 but it's very hard to find EP's for Sims 1. If I ever get a chance to play it, I will! I also love CallMeKevin! He's by far my favorite Sims youtuber (even though he's pretty funny when he plays other games as well). He's like the perfect chaotic neutral when it comes to Sims channels. Now that I said that, I feel inclined to make an alignment chart of all the different sims channels (but I probably won't since I don't watch any).
