The subject line says it all. I've looked at various forums on-line and others are having similar issues, but no one has answers.
Sims 4 is the only game or process being affected like this. I can run Witcher3 with Ultra graphics settings and my CPU usage is stable at about 60%. Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas run at about 43%, and that's on maximum settings and both games are heavily modded.
For Sims 4, after the Toddler update was released I did the usual preventive measures; removed the folder at C:\Users\MyName\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4. I moved the Sims 4 folder to my desktop, started the game so it would make a new folder, get the game updated, etc. Then I added my saves, Tray and Mods back and played the game. Everything worked fine for about four days and then my game suddenly crashed to BIOS without a warning or any error messages. Now Sims 4 clocks my CPU at close to 80% when sitting idle and near 100% if I try to actually play the game. Before the BIOS crash Sims 4 ran about the same as my other games.
My Intel CPU core is running at 3.01 Ghz (the maximum I can get with a dual core). I have a 120GB of free disk space and my Physical Memory never tops 45%. I have almost all background processes disabled out of habit. With 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 550Ti graphics card that is more than enough machine to run Sims 4. As I stated the game was fine until the Toddler update. I haven't installed any new software (other than the Sims 4 update), nor have I downloaded or installed anything else.
Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Hi Kendo 2, if you haven't already, I recommend reporting this to EA to see if they have an explanation.

Hi Kendo 2, if you haven't already, I recommend reporting this to EA to see if they have an explanation. I spoke to a tech person there on the phone this morning. He suggested not running the game in Windowed Mode with max resolution. The suggestion helped some but I ended up adding more memory to 'fix' the issue. And I've reinstalled the game from scratch and not included City Living and a few of the stuff packs I don't use on a regular basis. My CPU usage is back down to around 55-60% with Origin and Sims 4 running. I suspect EA changed some graphics settings with the Toddler/Vampire update. I spent 4 hrs yesterday running checks and scans on my rig and everything is okay, and Sims 4 is the only game being affected. I suspect Sims 4 will end up being like Sims 3 for some players; the more content packs and updates they add the more memory they use, until it gets to the point where the minimum or recommended specs simply won't handle the game anymore. Thank you for your response.
