I went to log into my Simblr this morning and got a message from Tumblr saying my account had been terminated. There was no notice and I actually have no idea why; I've followed their TOUs, and used the account solely for reposting CC and posting my own CC. I sent them a message right away but it's the middle of the night where they are, so I guess I'll be waiting a while for a reply. I can't even think it's for copyright infringement or anything, as apparently you get three strikes with copyright infringement, and I've never even had one strike. It's very annoying though, especially since I had just posted a new download last night (my custom Harry Potter traits- spent 2 weeks working on them!). All my downloads are backed up, but I would lose all my posts, notes, followers, etc. if they decide not to reinstate my account for whatever reason. I'm really just hoping it's a glitch. I looked on Twitter to see if other people had it happen to them and there were quite a few; one recently got his Tumblr reinstated and Tumblr replied saying it was a bug. So we'll see. In the meantime, just trying to figure out what I want to do. I'm not sure if I should trust Tumblr anymore, or at the very least, I should really start a sideblog and back up all my posts there (funnily enough, I started to do that a few weeks ago, but then thought it wasn't necessary). Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I know deesims2 had her Tumblr deactivated for posting "spam" and "affiliate" links, so who knows... Update: They restored my account! Long story short, it was a glitch in the system. At first, they accused me of "spam" and non-genuine reblogging (what does that even mean? lol). I wrote back and politely insisted that 1) I don't have any spam on my page and 2) I hardly ever reblog anything (genuinely only reblog once or twice a week) and asked that they send back a specific example of what I'd done wrong so I can't do it in the future. The guy I was speaking with told me they already sent an e-mail explaining it (they hadn't). I asked again for some specific examples...nothing. Then five hours later, he replied say it was a glitch in the system and nothing I'd ever done and apologized. Lol. Alls well that ends well, but I already started working on my Wix page now. Tumblr will just be for reblogs and to communicating with other fans....my Wix will host all my downloads and it'll be much better that way

I left Tumblr...hmmm...i think it was over a year and a half ago now, God..2 years? I was under a different Creator name and it just Freaked me out, trying to stay up with the, "Simblr", crowd. I never really expected so many followers and attention overkill, it can really take off to an Extreme Level. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my thing. You can always Upload your CC here on S4S Creator Studios....you won't get Thousands of Likes, overnight, but there is no Pressure on Creating. The Likes that you get HERE - are worth a Million!

I agree with Steven, I honestly hate Tumbrl. I've never understand it and I don't really get how it's a "good" way to share the CC. I don't see it as a secure web for this porpouse, they're not serious at all. But I respect those who use it... It's a pity what happen to you brit. Hopefuly they will restore it back soon if they had that "bug". If that's the case I find them really unreliable. But you have the choice at all. Good luck!

Haha yeah, @stevenssimsstuff, I definitely get what you're saying about Tumblr/Simblr. I enjoy attention (haha), so that's not my problem with it. I guess for me, I'm older than most of the crowd there and I'll admit, it does get a bit much sometimes, especially with the Simblr "drama" in the community. I stay out of it, and try to only follow other Simblrs that just post about Sims and nothing else. I have been trying to mirror all my content here on the Creator Studios! I only found out about it after I'd started my Simblr, or else I probably never would've used Simblr to begin with. I'm glad we have the options here :D

I liked Tumblr (mostly) prior to this. It's a good way to share CC only because there are SO many fans on there and your CC can have a wider audience. I think now that I've built my "fan base" though, it's time to move my content to a more secure location. Having my own website with Wix is not only better (no random glitches should delete it, haha), but I also have a lot more control over layout, customization, organization, etc. which is important to me now that I have so much content. By the way, my Harry Potter pack is up on my Simblr (hehe). I haven't done the wizard robes yet- they'll be up in the next Harry Potter pack, the third and finally one

It's a good way to promote your CC since many people can re-post your post and spread a word. When you're on WIX you have to rely on all websites that share news about custom content. More shares, more downloads. Simple example, when Lana CC re-posted my geometric earrings I got 200 downloads in 18 hours. When she didn't re-post my last earrings, only 6 people in 10 hours downloaded my earrings and 3 of them was I because I was testing the link. That's why people like to share their stuff on tumblr. And I am not even surprised that tumblr deleted an account. They provide free space and don't have any obligations to keep providing it. Recently I got robbed by amazon. They allowed some scammer via chat to "return" my kindle 6 month after the purchase and refunded $150 as gift card which he used to purchase a keyboard with 2nd day shipping. I called a million times, spoke with a few res reporting fraud on my account, saying to cancel that order and take the money for my kindle back. As result I got an e-mail from amazon that their "specially trained workers" checked my account and detected no suspicious activity. My kindle is blacklisted now and I can't use it. Amazon stole my money and refused to take responsibility for their mistake. After this accident I don't believe in justice in general. So I'm very happy for you brittpinkiesims that you were able to get your account back. By the end of the day tumblr doesn't owe us anything, so it was very nice that somebody made an effort and did the right thing.

Yeah, it's defintely a good way to promote CC! That's why I plan on using both Tumblr and Wix. I have all my followers on Tumblr and I will continue to use it as a way to blog about WIP, reblog other CC that I like, and promote any new content I upload to my Wix site Thank God for Lana's CC page, though; I always get a lot more downloads once she reblogs something I post. And I am not even surprised that tumblr deleted an account. They provide free space and don't have any obligations to keep providing it. Recently I got robbed by amazon. By the end of the day tumblr doesn't owe us anything, so it was very nice that somebody made an effort and did the right thing. I agree and disagree. Tumblr actually got back to me today and admitted it was a glitch on their behalf and nothing I'd done wrong. Sure, it's a free service, but they still have an obligation to be decent and look after their service. We may not pay them but we still make THEM a ton of money by driving traffic to their domain. If they terminated all our accounts and no one used Tumblr, it'd go bankrupt. So they have an obligation to provide their service, and they do owe me the right to use my account; who knows how much money I've made them over the months I've been on Tumblr. I might feel differently had I actually broken any rules, but I had not. Not to mention how many people actively do break rules and never get terminated, but that's another story, haha. So sorry about your Kindle, though, Feyona. It may be worth reporting to BBB :(

It means, that you reblog things not because you like them but because you have teamed up with others to generate additional traffic by massively reblogging each others post. They have a point about it in their guidelines. (I would link to it, but my tumblr has just now decided - again - to only show me the German guidelines and refuses to load the English ones. How I detest it, when the language of a website is decided through IP *sighs* ) I generally like the idea of tumblr. It's a great blogging service for creative types to showcase their work no matter the format. They not only offer free space for all those files but also a very comfortable way of uploading and editing pictures, movies, audio-files or text. Unfortunately a lot of people mainly (or exclusively) use tumblr to reblog memes and that is the point where it annoys me as well - but I simply don't follow tumblrs which reblog excessively and that works fine for me. PS: The icons for your Harry Potter traits and buffs are adorable!

That is the main reason I have problems with Tumbrl, there is so many content and it is unorganized. If you don't really know the tumbrl or anyone reblogs you. It's so difficut for people that are starting to let other know their work. Mainly for Sims, I have tried to search for CC in the tumbrl search bar and I can't really get to all the CC that actually exist. I follow many simbrls don't get me wrong, but all of them I've known by outside of tumblr. Other things are tags. I've searched a lot of times for #TS4CC and some content that shows doesn't even enter in that category. Many people tag just to get reblogs and likes. But if I'm looking for CC, I do mind to recieve 200 pages of stories or drama in the community. It's all mixed up into one thing. Anyways, I'm giving my point of view, I do respect all those who like it and use it. I do follow many Simblrs as I said because I like the content THEY make, but not because I see any good points.

I rarely reblog and when I do it has nothing to do with teaming up with others, haha. Anyway, the Tumblr rep. backpedaled and said my termination was due to a glitch and nothing I'd done wrong, anyway. I do agree with you on the good points of Tumblr! That's why I choose to keep mine in addition to my website It's nice to have "followers" and be able to share what I'm creating and anything else I want to share. And thanks for the compliment! I thought they looked pretty cute and Maxis-Matchy

Despite being a fan of Tumblr, I have to completely agree with you about the tagging system! It's very flawed and I have issues with it too, even within my own Tumblr page. For example, I tag everything so downloaders can easily find other content of mine on my page within the same tag (i.e. clicking on "rugs" will take you to all downloads which have rugs in them, etc.). However, I noticed that even with all the tags done correctly, sometimes Tumblr doesn't show all the items with the same tags when you click on them! So frustrating and I can't figure out how to fix it. So that's where having my Wix will come in handy; I can categorize everything and make menus and sidebars and other tools which will keep my content WAY more organized than Tumblr ever did (which is good, because I'm an organizational freak, haha).

Thank you all for sharing your experiences, as I'm also considering moving off tumblr - not deleting it but not relying on it either, as I find it chaotic, unreliable and after reading about the possibility of it all disappearing overnight with no explanation (thank God it was reinstated), hazardous to my mental health lol. I'm tackling (or shall I say tickling) the idea of an actual website but not sure if I want the costs associated (and work). I have met some amazing people through tumblr though, and there is a lot of inspiration from there too (seeing everyone's cc, screenshots, interactions, legacies, etc) if you can mentally/physically filter out the crappa-potamous that gets through too. :D

At this point, I highly recommend not using Tumblr as your main place to store content. I saw someone was deleted the other day for using Adfly on Tumblr, apparently? I don't use it, but I know a LOT who do, so everyone needs to be careful. I was really anxious about moving my content and thought people would be annoyed with having to click through to my website to reach my downloads, but honestly, not a single person has complained about it (and people LOVE to complain, LOL), and it's given me a lot of peace of mind in knowing that if Tumblr does randomly decide to delete me again, at least I have all my downloads archived elsewhere, and people will still be able to access my content. Of course, rebuilding my Tumblr again would suck, but it wouldn't be as bad as losing EVERYTHING- I'd just have to rebuild my following and post my stuff again. I do recommend Wix, though! It's free, you can use a pre-made template if you want, or design your own, and it's very easy to use. Plus, you can get crazy organizing things to your liking, and it makes it so much easier to archive your content Wordpress is also good! I still use my Tumblr to post updates, share work in progress posts, and reblog everyone's stuff, but Wix is my official website, and it works well that way Good luck with whatever you end up doing <3
