I think it happened because my wife and I both play, but on the same copy. I wished that the game had some LAN capability, so that two people could play at the same time, off of one license. (Like what Blizzard used to do with the Warcraft games before WoW)
But then I got to thinking more about it. Wouldn't it be great if The Sims had some competition? And what about those laundry lists of things everyone wants but we know EA won't get to for a loooong time? And then, "sure, we have an amazing mod community for that reason, but each patch day is a major hassle for the more in depth mods." What if the tools to build expansions were available to the community? What if there was a Steam Library-like tool that listed your expansions and mods and let you know if there was an update available (or with your consent, auto-downloaded those updates.)?
I can't decide if this is pie in the sky or something really possible. If it is, I'd want to help create it. What do you guys think?
