ill write the text under and number and put a picture at the bottom with a number so its clear to read!! also the shadow on his nose and mouth was intentional as a test i'm on version 2.6.1.5, 1- i've been told and have tried out splitting the vertices but this hasnt worked to fix the problem when i've tried it, could i be doing it wrong? 2- i'm not sure about this at all, the shadow map goes over where this area is uv'd in blender but it doesnt show up in game in the top part of the hair mesh, is this my fault or does ts4 not apply shadow to the hair mesh :( here is a .blend and .package, thanks for any help and sorry for two thread in one day, im being productive apparently

The direction to split vertices is correct, however it may not have been applied correctly. (See images below) These 5 positions are still merged together as 1 vertex each. This is your issue. The blue lines represent the "per-vertex normal" (see the red box for settings) Once you split your vertexes this will change from one line to multiple lines depending on how many vertexes it gets split into. Click each to see larger.

Click each to see larger. thanks for the help first of all!!! i've been able to fix a few things and learnt how to see those lil lines :p but i've gotten to this point and tried all sorts of split/join arrangements but cant get past this 1 being before, 2 being after my fixes those two dark patches wont go for me :( i've uploaded "4a.blend" to the original link if you have a look or tell me what im doing wrong in free time! edit: if anyone is looking at this while after i posted i also now uploaded "41g.blend", just a further updated version but the same issues stand on both
