So, I've been working to learn how to mesh, and followed the baking tutorial for the table and the picture tutorial for absolute beginners. So, I made a cube (literally the simplest thing I could think of to mesh) and did everything that it said I should, but when selected for blender to make the UV mesh, it made the top (and bottom) of my cube rectangle instead of squarish. The sides were already rectangle, so no problems there. See it here (the top is the light blue): Anyway, so I thought, no biggy I'll just work around it when I am making my diffuse map. So I put my cube in game and it works fine, but I notice that because my UV was wonky that when you view it from the front it looks blurry on the top (but to the side it looks fine) See example here I figure this is because of UV map wonkyness (since it made it a rectangle and not a square) My questions are: 1. Why did a get a rectangle when I asked it to map a cube etc? ie, what did I do wrong? and 2. To change the UV map, I need to load my cube back into blender and re-map it (hopefully the right way) and rebake it? or do I have to start over (not a big deal with this but for future reference)?

I have never had good luck on using the unwrap as cube or cylinder. I always mark my seams and do regular unwrap. The panting tutorial I believe goes over this. There is also all of the beginner object meshing tutorial.

Okay, i will try it that way. I kind of adopted the unwrap cube instead of the other, since it was, well... a cube. thank you

This seems like a simple problem, i can't tell what it is from a screen shoot, please publish your blend file.

I decided just to unwrap it like D4S suggested and it worked fine. I'll just do that from now on. Thanks though it must just be a little burp in how the program does cube unwrap.
