Hi, I can't seem to find the answer to my question ANYWHERE - if I may have missed it, could someone please direct me?
To keep things simple, I'm going to say I want to convert custom makeup (with permission) from the Sims 3 to Sims 4. How do I go about this? I have seen tons of tutorials on how to convert a mesh object and its textures, but nothing about texture items specifically. Does makeup in the Sims 4 need a mesh map? Just a specular map? I am a total noob at creating custom content, but I am not interested in using mesh programs as I do not want to make a mesh item. Do I still need to use Blender in order to properly convert sims 3 makeup to Sims 4? More simply...if I wanted to take an EA TS3 eye shadow and put it in TS4, is this the same process? I know EA items in TS3 are greyscale, and I would have to create swatches for sims 4 - I've already experimented with hair recolors...so I'm mostly looking to find out how to apply a texture to a new package to essentially convert/clone the item from TS3 to TS4. I suppose I will need to have something in mind I want to convert, but at this time, this is all hypothetical as I am just getting started. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Hello mewithouty0u I don't know too much about creating CAS custom content But I found these CAS tutorials here on forums: Eyeshadow tutorialtattoo tutorialEyeliner tutorialfemale and male ts4 bodies templates: linkSince it is a conversion I think you probably will need to import a ts4 texture using sims4studio and use it as a base for the makeup form ts3 Hope it helps ><

Hi, You don't need to use any 3d program for you project. Let's say I want to convert a lipstick. I would click on Create a CAS standalone and look for a lipstick. I would clone it and export it's texture. I would also download the skin template from this page to use as base so I'm sure where everything is. So in my 2D program I would have ts3 lipstick texture layer, ts4 lipstick texture and the body template as base. I would try to make the ts3 lipstick texture match the ts4 lipstick texture and check if everything is correct with the template. Once I like the result I would hide everything but ts3 texture, save and importing it back. Test in game. Once I like the result in game I would make the different colors. If you need further info I can take some screens to show you. This is how I would do it. I hope this helps UN

Thanks to both of you for the replies. Now, untraditionalnerd, I hear what you are saying, I do something similar in photoshop for another game that I play, and create custom skins and skin markings for. I have a texture for a bloody nose I want to try out, so basically all I need to do is use photoshop to make sure it's aligned properly, and then simply import it using Sims 4 studio? I don't have TSWorkshop, only Sims 4 Studio, s3pe and s4pe. As far as where to get started using this texture in Sims 4 Studio, I have no idea. Is this something you could help me with? Also, Hinayuna, thanks for those links, they are incredibly helpful. I couldn't find Sims 4 makeup tutorials anywhere! Thanks a BUNCH, both of you. The Sims really has such a helpful community. XOXO
