Hi! I've been playing around with the idea of creating my own skin overlay like the Simsperience's birth mark or Nyloa's illness overlays. I'm very confused on how to go about doing that from 'scratch.' I just want to make a simple dotted overlay that can go with any skin color. I thought this would be more detailed, but I can't think of anything else to add.

Well first you would clone one of the skin overlays in S4S; I used the freckles in this example. It helps to have the skin template so you know where to put your texture. I selected the body area and filled it with a color, then made a new alpha and filled the same area with a dotted pattern. Then I saved as dxt5 .dds. link
Here's how it looks in Sims 4 Studio: link
If you want your overlay to be a bright color like this you have to go to the Warehouse, click on CAS Part, and make sure the Composition Method is 0 (or 1, or 4). If you want to make a realistic skin pattern like freckles you can make your main color gray and use Comp Method 3 (It will match the skintones in game). Here is an example of how the methods differ using the same base texture: link

Hmm...are they set to private? I see a big circle with a line through it...hoping the OP can see them. I was just looking out of curiosity if I want to make freckles one day. LOL.

I was trying to direct link them from my Google Photos, maybe they don't allow that. Are the links working?
