(Sorry for making so many posts, I've been bit with a cc-making bug, apparently.)
So, I've seen many pieces of cc where the item automatically takes on the skin color and texture of the sim. However, I have no idea how to replicated it. Opening these files in s4s just shows a completely transparent texture, and searching every variation of this questions/key phrases on the forums here, and on search engines is coming up empty.
So if anyone knows how to do this, I would be incredibly indebted to you!!
Some examples of cc that does what I mean: 1 (uses the eyes), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
And as you can see in this picture, these clearly take texture from an area of the body, not just one point, because they also take on skin details/markings.

Hi. You need to put an item’s uvs where that area of the body is unwrapped. - select your item, switch to edit mode select everything with A; - if there is a texture in the background of the the uv editor, remove it with x button, then click on Open and choose your custom skin texture; - now you just put uvs where there is a texture you want your item to display
