Hi, kyulsoo. The curves do not have any material assigned to them. That said, this is useless currently. You need to convert curves to mesh, arrange their uvs to match maxis texture, and only then they will be displayed correctly.

Yes, i converted the curves to a mesh and when i import an ea texture it does show on the uv editor and material tab but i'm wondering if its possible to use simandy's textures and if so, how do i make it appear in material? also if i try to import their singular mesh, the texture doesn't load in

- select an object; - expand the timeline, change it to shader editor; - click on New to create a new material; - click on the yellow socket next to Base color, drag it away, type in Image, choose Color; - click on Open, choose your image

okay i followed the instructions and the image isn't being read on the material tab on the right side. the emmision tab is instead what's being read and i can't select the photo on the material tab. here

You need to have a mesh selected, not curves. The uvs need to align with textures. Maxis hair textures are in the top right corner. Heres an example

hello yes that works but what i mean is i wanted to try using another simmer's texture instead of ea's textures. for example the curves are already mesh in both photos but the ea one is the only one registering in material tab. this is the ea texture one. and this is the simandy version i wanted to try. as you can see when i try using the material tab to use their texture it doesn't show. and when i use the shader editor and even try moving their points to the base color and alpha of the ea one the entire mesh turns black. is it possible to use their texture or can i only use ea ones? i've also asked the creator but i'm waiting on a response, thank you for your help!... also is there something i can do to fix the bumpy way my hair looks? the hairs in game or by creators are very smooth and seamless but mine are oddly chunky and bumpy...did i perhaps miss a step or am i supposed to make the hairs from a mesh strand rather than a curve strand? thank you again and sorry for the long text.

You choose the material assigned to the hair, remove an existing image with x button, click on Open and choose your custom texture. I understood what you meant, the blend file does not contain this image for me to use it as an example
If you do it exactly as shown here, you will be plugging it in the material assigned to the hair. - select an object; - expand the timeline, change it to shader editor; - click on New to create a new material; - click on the yellow socket next to Base color, drag it away, type in Image, choose Color; - click on Open, choose your image If you mean this, strands are clipping into each other. Move the one on top to cover others or vice versa

okay so i might have gotten it correct this time. when i was opening the texture in new they had resized and became larger so they weren't showing but i sort of managed. i'm going to need to place them properly but it's loaded properly, right? also for the strands i just need to layer them properly? i was asking because the individual chunks of hair don't really give that head of hair look. thanks so much!

when you apply rectangular textures to uvs created in the square uv space, they stretch, so you need to resize them with S Y 0.5. When aligning uvs with textures, try to make highlights align with each other as they do on maxis hair. This is one of the things that makes custom hair not look authentically maxis (because maxis makes new textures for every hair, so all shadows and highlights always are where they should be )
You just need to stop the bangs from clipping into the rest of the hair
