Hello, I've made a post previously on how I wanted to try making custom head meshes. Am I only limited to editing the default head mesh, or can I make a totally new mesh on my own and use it? If so, would I be able to just transfer the weight of the default head to the new one? Or would I need to manually weigh every part of it? Thanks in advance!

Hi. The head has a lot of vertex groups, each of which has to affect very specific areas. For weight transfer to work alone, the head has to be identical in shape to the maxis one. If there are even minor deviations, you'll have to adjust weight paint manually. A more reasonable thing would be to reshape the maxis head.

Okay, I see. Also, when I make a custom head mesh as a skin detail it cuts off the top of any hair and you can no longer edit the face in CAS, is there anything I can do to fix this? To clarify, I am cloning one of the meshes you get when you search for "heads" parts in S4S and deleting a few vertices to see if it still works with less or additonal vertices, so please let me know if I'm doing this wrong.

Nevermind about the hair, I figured out it was the "Region Map" since I was cloning a hat.

It seems like it's thinking I'm selecting a hat when I try to click a part of the face in CAS, which I'm sure has to do with the base item being a hat. I've also noticed that the rest of the face is getting changed, where as CCadence's meshes I've mentioned before keep the shapes on the face the same.

Okay, I started from a different base item and the face's sliders are no longer blocked! But still I deal with the problem of the custom head changing the face's "presets". Here are pictures for what I'm referring to.

You do it like this only: - make sure you have the latest version of s4s, there was a bug related to head replacements; - clone a head. It has to be a head package, not anything else; - re-categorize as a skin detail; - export the blend, edit, import back.

Ah okay, everything is working accordingly now, thanks so much!
