Hi, I've noticed a problem and have no idea what is happening.
So in the past certain cc items of mine (for example a tattoo) that I've cloned by placing it in the sims 4 studio mods folder in order to for example change something about it without having to redo all the swatches, like changing the category of the tattoo so there are more options Now when I delete the old files from said mods folder, then try to open one of the cloned packages (I choose create 3d mesh when I do it and choose it) it appears completely empty like it's missing parts. I mean for example swatches are all there with their numbers but there are no texture files or meshes are missing
I'm really worried this has been affecting a lot of my older cc for anyone who used it (for me it is appearing in game etc so I don't understand how it could be affecting others) Is this cloning method not meant to be done this way?

A clone relies on the original. If you cloned a game file, s4s can find referenced resources in game files. If you cloned a cc package, s4s needs the original package to be in s4s mods folder to display a cloned item and ts4 needs it to be in ts4 mods folder. Basically, put the original back in s4s mods folder ( or a copy of it ), then restart s4s

Hi thanks, I'll probably only clone ea items and do everything manually from now on. So the cc can't function on another computer that doesn't have this path? Or is it just not editable in sims 4 studio

When you clone something, all resources are referenced, meaning your object requires the original to function (both must be in ts4’s mods folder). If the original is cc, then everybody using the cloned package would need the original. As you replace resources, the connections are severed. If all are replaced or embeded, the item is independent and does not require the original. If at least one resource stays referenced, the item needs the original.
