Hi! As the subject says, I'm trying to find these little DST images in the likes and dislikes section in CAS because I want to replace/override a few with my own created music genre icons to match my custom music stations, but I'm having a hard time finding these little images via game file cruiser. Can someone please help?
ETA:
With all these dst images in game it is almost impossible to find what you're looking for. These radio genres have more than just one icon like 3 or 4 sometimes in different sizes. I know that because I have already doen this a few years back with Wishes with the Alternative Genre, but now it so hard to really find something with Star. When you try to search by the Type number 00B2D882 nothing shows. Plus the search takes forever and also freezes on me all the time.

Hi S4Player , The easiest way to find icons in S4S is with the Tools>Generate List>Icons. It creates a .html file you can open in the browser with all icons used by the tuning and their name (as it is referred in the tuning) and instance. You can search by name like you would any other page in the browser. The search in the game file cruiser is really for the text column, but DST images currently only have the image format in that column and it is slow searching this way because it loads the whole image to get that info and it has to load every image to see which ones have that text. I hope to improve that soon so only the part of the image needed to display the format is loaded unless clicked on.

Thank you very much for this very helpful information. I've opened the tool tab so many times but never noticed this before. I think I have become more blind than I thought lol. I have created the icon list and it is indeed very helpful. However, the list is also very long and scrolling through it completely without missing anything is very tiring for my eyes, but after a few hours I think I found them all, ( 4of each), but really not sure if these are all. I will see...
I'm not interested in the buffs though, I was just looking for the colored icons related to a few radio music stations like spop, backyard, easy-listening, retro and romance to replace them with my own music icons because...
In the past I have already changed strings to a few radio stations such as easy-listening into Native American, adding my custom music to the corresponding folders and later changed Spop into an Elvis Presley station since I'm a big EP fan who has all his music lol. Now that our sims have the opportunity to like or dislike stuff, I also want to change/override these corresponding icons in CAS and the ones in game floating above a sims's head when he/she hearing liked or disliked music. Hopefully just changing the image icon appearance is enough 'cause I don't like to mess with tunings that much. I love the 60's 70's and 80's and want to edit the retro and romance station also - Again, thank you very much for always being so helpful. Have a blessed day.
edit to add:
Sadly something does not work. I replaced the easylistening icons (same size) but when the sim listens to the station the old ear icon still shows obove its head. Maybe I missed some in the list. Could only find 4 of them though. Probably have to mess with the tunings after all... nope not doing that due to missing skills.

S4Player what steps did you take / what files did you override? Don't be too afraid of modifying tuning files... things like the speech/thought balloon sets are pretty straight forward to modify. Maybe you can upload your package file somewhere so we can help more.

As I have aready said, I just created an override package file for said radio stations showing up in CAS dislikes and likes with my own created icons. So I thought I could just override those "balloon" music icons showing above a sim head as well, but that is not the cas as showing in the above pictures. It's not really VERY important but would have been nice if those like/dislike bubbles would also show my own icons to match the ones changed in CAS. just override these little balloon images showing with mine by simply creating an override package file don't seem to be the right way of doing it. so I gave up because I don't know hot to manage

Hi S4Player - you may just need to override some additional icons. Here are some step by step instructions of one way to handle this: First, open your package or create a new empty package in Sims 4 Studio. Then go to the Tools menu and select Extract Tuning. In the Extract Tuning pop-up, type in a keyword you're interested in. In my case, I used "songwriter" since that's one of the music genres. Select all of them (or at least the headline and preference trait ones), and add them to your package. Then, take a look at the tuning files you've extracted. Some will have icons listed that you will want to override. When you find one you want to override, copy the instance number (the last segment) of the icon's reference ID as shown. Next, open the Game File Cruiser from the Tools menu. Paste the instance number you copied into the Instance Number search input field in the upper right. You'll need to click out of the field to see results show on the left. Once the correct icon shows on the left, click it and add it to your package (with the button in the lower right). Once you've extracted all of the relevant icons, you can override them (export and re-import new ones) as I assume you did previously. Remember to delete the tuning files if you're not modifying those, after you're done referencing any icons listed within them, otherwise the package file will be larger than it needs to be (and might conflict with future patches, creating more work for you to maintain). Good luck - I hope this helps!

Hi S4Player - yes, if you provide the .package file and individual icon files for the like and dislike balloons, I will try to help further.

Hi S4Player - yes, if you provide the .package file and individual icon files for the like and dislike balloons, I will try to help further. That would be very kind of you. Meanwhile I read your info over and over again, then I messed around a bit starting with SPop radio station search and I think I'm on to something now I imported everything, then read every line and found the said likes and dislikes responsible for the 80x74 icons, I imported them and two buffs.
Not sure about the trait_SimPreference tuning line and 64x64 image, because I already have it in my override package file, but I leave it in for now and see. The headline_SimPrefernce is the one for the 80x74 like and dislikes and so I imorted those as well. Deleted everything else
So I will share a picture of what I did here and if you could please just look at it and let me know if I did something right here, 'cause If I'm on the right path, (thanks to you), then that would mean that I could do it by myself for the next 4 remaining stations and you would not need to put in anymore time and effort trying to help. You already did a great job convincing me to give it a try. And so I did.

S4Player I'm glad you decided to give it a try! Sorry it didn't work the first time. So just to confirm, you used the instance numbers in your second image to locate the right icons using the Game File Cruiser, and then added those to your package? Once you did that, how exactly did you go about importing the new images over them? Please do upload the .package file too, just so I can best assist.

Hi S4Player, Can you try saving the images that don't work as a DDS but without mip maps? Since their dimensions are not a power of 2, they do not support mip maps. The current version of the game shows images like that with the llama.

Hi S4Player , Can you try saving the images that don't work as a DDS but without mip maps? Since their dimensions are not a power of 2, they do not support mip maps. The current version of the game shows images like that with the llama. Good Morning andrew thanks for the info. Ok, I will try that and report back.
edits to add:
Nope, not working either, still get the Llama floating image.
What I have tried so far is:
1. added the originals via game file cruiser "add to package file" then exported via batch export (they exported as dds) - replaced the original images with mine batch import as dds with mipmaps - didn't work
2. opened game file cruiser again, searched for the two images by the instance numbers again, then batch export as png. Replaced the originals with mine and saved as dds without mipmaps - didn't work.
Tried the same thing with png - didn't work.
Then tried to replace the orignals by image import using the right side "import button, didn't work either. I tired 4 different ways and neither did work. I'm lost now. Looks to me like you just can't replace those.
Maybe helaene will come up with some positive results.

S4Player you're in better hands with andrew, as he's the ultimate expert, but I'll still try to help if I can. The only thing that immediately jumps out at me from the files you sent is the image format - looks like the originals are saved as RGBA8 and the new one is DXT5. Do you have the option for RGBA8 when you're exporting from your graphics program?

S4Player maybe you could try Gimp? I use Photoshop personally, but I know lots of other sim content creators use Gimp and it's free.

thanks helaene, but I just leave it as is. Not willing to download another program just for that purpose. I already checked a few online converters and tried Photopea, and a few others. When converting, studio will not exept uncompressed format because that's what results into 23 kb. Again, thanks for trying to help. It's very much appreciated.
