I'm trying to make a furnace/heater. I'm trying to remove the in-game fire, but keep the animations so it has functionality and can keep sims warm. Removing it from the rig seems to do nothing- the "light" option appears but when a sim tries to carry out the action they do the "I can't reach it!" gesture Here is the package file. Im aware the shadow LODs aren't complete. One thing at a time.

Have you took al look at the tuning already? Maybe there are some lines that can be removed to clear the flames.

Tha is a cool idea. I will look into it and make a radiator (it will look nothing like yours, not stelling yours.). If my tuning works for it I will show you how to do it.

You need to add the fireplace tuning to your .package, give it a unique name, change the reference in the object definition so it uses your new tuning and then edit the tuning to remove the flame effect there. Here is the part you need to remove: Find that part and click the minus sign that I have indicated with the blue box. This will collapse that whole section into one line. Highlight that line and delete it. This will remove the effect. In the game the Sims will still light it, put it out, and warm themselves: Portions of your heater are still showing the glow of the old fireplace and to get rid of that you will need to edit this image so it matches up with your new image:
