Hi. What exactly do you mean by « shade »? Create materials? set up lights to render it? What hair (maxis match or alpha?)

It would look something like this: 1. Hair texture. It can be created procedurally using noise node or be hand painted or, as it usually is, both. 2. Gradient that imitates hair's interaction with light. Made either with the gradient node or by painting manually. The later would be better. 3. Hair texture and Gradient are joined together. 4. The result is put through a color ramp. 5. Outline. On maxis hair there's a soft outline along every strand. I have an idea of how this can be done procedurally, but it would be easier to do this in Photoshop. 6. Ambient occlusion. Extra shadows where it makes sense for them to be on the hair. 7. Outline and AO are joined. 8. All are joined.
