Ok, I feel like such an idiot! I was writing up a detailed how-to including about a dozen screen shots and I accidentally navigated the browser (must have pressed Alt key while using the keyboard arrow keys!), and lost all my work! Of course it appears that Proboards doesn't auto save work, but is there a way to periodically save a draft (even outside Proboards) that can be published in a post here? Edit: I use a free wordpress.com account and a couple helper sites. Please see post below for details.I am thinking of using Google docs since it does auto save, but I'm not sure about the screen shots portion, since posts need to link to imgur etc.
Maybe there is a local BBcode editor I could use on my local computer that saves changes frequently?
The following is pasted from a web based wysiwyg editor but presents the same risk since it doeasn't auto save.

Give it a try! Testing :D (nap time)

If you are using IE9+ or any non-IE browser just type :) and it should be converted into as you type.

Sorry to hear. I don't have a solution, other than type everything in notepad and then format in the browser. That's what I would do, probably. Not sure about any editor like that.

Thanks paika. Blog interface like Wordpress.com saves but doesn't seem to offer the ability to put it into bbcode, so I am continuing to look around. I will post any results I find.

I got a step closer. The content looks like it can all be done on Wordpress.com, I just need to see if I can convert my finished draft from HTML to BBcode. fufu508.wordpress.com/2-2/ Success! I took the content from the page above (copied from the HTML tab in the Wordpress editor), translated into bbcode via www.seabreezecomputers.com/html2bbcode/ and pasted that test text below.
this is a test, saving? Bold stuffTest of sleepy time.

Editing posts in Wordpress is safer (but not necessary, see below). I can accidentally close the browser and still find my content. Nice to know I won't be as likely to end up like this guy.

I know the feeling well having done this myself...it is most annoying. Fortunately, Proboards does have an auto-save but you have to enable it through your profile...it is not on by default. To do that go to your Profile page, click Edit profile, choose the settings tab, and select enable drafts. It works very well and since enabling it I have not had a single issue with it losing or otherwise screwing up a draft. It has saved my posts from the backspace menace on many occasions. I've updated the Forum features post in the Community forum now to add instructions for how to do this
