This has been plaguing me for a really long time, I've just been too nervous to post here because I'm super shy, haha. I did a whole lot of searching both through here & Google, but I couldn't find a single thing to point me in the right direction so hopefully it's okay to make a thread for it! There doesn't seem to be much information out there at all about overrides/default replacements for Sims 4 other than skins and eyes.
I'll preface this by saying I'm not 100% new to CC creation; I've been doing recolors and default replacements for a few years now, but nothing super complicated. I know very little about Blender overall, but I'm open to learning.
The problem: recently I've been using things made by CC creators as default replacements for ugly basegame hair/clothes (for my own personal use, not to share). I followed this tutorial initially to figure out how to do it, and for the most part it's worked out okay. However, there's a handful of items that give me problems and I'm completely lost on how to fix them. Right now my biggest concern is that on some of the hairs I've done, there are these odd chunks in the texture that aren't there in the original CC hair, which I'm assuming means I've obviously done something wrong. I imported every single thing from the original file (all LODs, shadow, specular, normal, etc) but I can't get rid of them. Here are some examples:
I've also tried replacing them with blank ones rather than the ones directly from the original CC item, but nothing does the trick. Any help here would be super appreciated - I feel like it's something very obvious that I'm just missing somehow. Here is my package, and here is the original CC hair.
My issue with clothing overrides is more complicated (or so it seems). With some items I have no issues, but others do this:
It looks like the old EA mesh and the new mesh have sort of combined instead of the new one replacing the old one? Again, I imported every single thing from the original file. I'm much more out of my element with clothing overrides as I could never really find any tutorials for doing it, and kind of just had to guess and play around with things. Here is my package, here is the original CC item. If there are any existing tutorials for this that I just never discovered, please send them my way!
I'm sorry if there is a thread like this out there or if these are very stupid questions! I'm generally still pretty new to CC creation as a whole so very much still learning lol.
