Hello everyone,
I am attempting to convert a hairstyle for men and boys from Sims 3 to Sims 4; however, I am not able to convert the meshes from simgeom to obj files. Is there anyone that would be willing to convert these files for me ?

I feel I must clarify. I do not own Sims 3 nor have I ever used tsr. I am able and have extracted the mesh files as simsgeom files. If you can give me clear directions on how to extract the mesh files as an obj with tsr or a similar program and include all the necessary steps and add-ons or plugins needed, I thank you. If you are able to extract the mesh files yourself or can convert them to obj yourself if you had the Sims 3 package, I also thank you. Either way, please let me know which one you can and are willing to do.

Do you have Milkshape or Blender? If you have Milkshape, download these GEOM plugins for it, which will enable you to read TS3 .simgeom files into Milkshape and then you can export them as .obj from there: www.modthesims.info/showpost.php?p=2721499 . For Blender, you can try this TS3 GEOM plugin: www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=443780 I can vouch for the Milkshape plugin, having used it countless times myself, but do not have first-hand experience with the Blender one. However, exporting as .obj from Blender can be tricky depending on what version of Blender you have - the current version seems to export them OK, but I've found that earlier versions (including version 2.70 that the stable version of Sims 4 Studio uses) tend to export them as a black mesh with its normals all messed up.

I do indeed use blender. Thank you esmeralda and g1g2 for your suggestions.

How were you able to get the mesh if you don't own the Sims 3?

Sim 3 pack files still have meshes in them and I had a friend that owns 3 but not 4 that was willing to extract and package what I needed. At least that what I have come to understand. I know you are able to make recolors of things but still need the original to have the mesh but I am pretty sure I have been able to get the correct files. Regardless, I think I finally have gotten the mesh extraction and conversion thing down so thank you to everyone that as posted or shown some interest but I think I will tinker with this myself for awhile longer.
