Update of my latest items hosted on nexusmods.com

First let me say I love Sims4Studio, I love the people here, and the community here is great. Thanks for letting me be a part of it over these years. I've absolutely no intention of backing away from that, and I'll still be participating in threads over here.

Second, I'm not trying to sell people on the idea of using Nexusmods.com, that's up to them, I'm just having bandwidth issues for storage (fixed income and things are bleak right now).  And I must admit, I'm just done with having to set up group/share policies on every last little file in my Google drive in order to link to them. That's getting old.

Nexusmods.com (other than a trillion ads) would seem to be the perfect place to park mods for people to download because you don't have to deal with over-zealous content moderators telling you that your screen captures are too dark, too bright, too far away, too close, not big enough, not enough of them, don't cover all 58 swatches in your upload, etc., like you do on some sites (and I'll be the first person to say that's also a nice point to listing content on S4S). Nexus also hosts your files, so you don't have to scramble to find/maintain/bother with an account somewhere to supply bandwidth for downloads and screen caps (thank God Imgur is free, right?).

Only problem with Nexus, at least for the Sims4 section of their website... no traffic, and for what traffic there is, the view-to-download ratio is the worst I've ever seen.

66 views on one of my packages, 1 download. I've no idea, and I'm almost afraid to find out, exactly what those other 65 viewers looking at that package were hoping to find, but apparently classical paintings and recolored pianos really aren't their thing. No matter.

And granted, there's no law saying people must download my stuff just because I park it somewhere, but it'd be nice if where one puts one's content enjoys traffic rates comparable to modthesims.info, but that's probably a pipe dream.

As far as TSR's site goes, I don't begrudge people using TSR's site, but I'll never use it. Searches on TSR are slow, even when you subscribe. I can deal with the throttled downloads non-subs have on Nexus. Been putting up with that for years. At least Nexusmods.com uploads are really fast.

I used to host my own content at xordevoreaux.com, but that got tedious fast, as you're back to assigning share privs per file as well as playing web developer (and driving traffic to your site).

All that said, I'm now parking my newer Sims4 stuff (as well as the majority of my old stuff) on Nexus. Their whole upload, search, storage, and download process is nicely developed, I don't have to bother with hosting the files, and I can upload as many files as I want for each submission per download. Best of all, the moderators aren't spending their time sitting around like Siskel & Ebert critiquing the quality and content of your screenshots.

I won't be tearing down my stuff here on Sims4Studio, but Nexus will probably be my new home base for new content, ill-trafficked as far as Sims4Stuff as that site seems to be (my Skyrim and Skyrim SE mods fare a bit better, as those games are primarily what people are looking for on Nexus for mods, apparently).

So, in the meantime, despite the drawback regarding Sims4 traffic on Nexus, I'm (slowly) revisiting my mod posts in my Studio here and providing links on any post where I've updated content on Nexus.

If anyone's interested, my stuff's on the "user files" tab of my profile at Nexus.  If anyone does decide to download my (or anybody's) Sims4 stuff from there, just use the manual option for downloading Sims4 content. You don't need their Vortex manager for that.  Skyrim, yes, Sims4, no.

Most stuff I've posted on Nexus you've seen already, so no news there. The only really nice update I've made so far is I've created a new hi-res smoke detector recolor.

I'm also not bothering with their whole points earning system for my Sims4 mods, not any of them. I tried that on my Skyrim stuff, but it's just too much of a bother. It's just a place to park stuff.

Anyway, I wish to keep this community in the loop with my mods over there, but I'm not really sure how to go about that. I'll figure that out later, I guess.
