[SOLVED] Pointy sides after welding seam

Hi! I'm very new to meshing and I've encountered my first problem. I frankenmeshed the BG polo and the GTW retail suit. I joined the two meshes and merged the vertices. Then I looked at it in game. It had the thin transparent line at the seam, so I researched that and learned about welding. I went back in to weld the seam on both UV maps. Went back in game and now the seam line is gone but the sides are pointy, so I clearly made a misstep in the welding step, but I'm not sure what it is. There are like zero detailed tutorials on welding. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
