I'm just wondering what is the difference between a recolor and a retexture? I've tried googling but I couldnt find any explanation on what the difference is i could understand. In my eyes it seems like both are just two different names for the same exact thing

A recolor would be changing the color of the original texture, whereas a retexture is a change of texture to the item (for example giving a pair of alpha jeans a maxis match texture)

But on hair for example, When I recolor that, I change the diffuse. When you retexture, do you still change the diffuse then? or is that more complicated. I just export the file in diffuse and put a color on it in gimp and import it back in when recoloring a hair. Same process with retexture ? or does that involve blender too? (i have looked at blender and closed the program cuz that seemed like some really complicated stuff 😂)

Yes retexturing a hair would also be changing the diffuse! I don't really have any knowledge surrounding the process of retexturing as I haven't done it myself, but since most don't include the original mesh in a retexture I would assume blender isn't that involved. But again, I'm not sure 😅 I'm sure there are tutorials if you're interested in it! When I first peeked at blender I felt the same thing! But now I have gotten pretty comfortable with it

The terms recolor and retexture are often used interchangeably. Technically you could say that a recolor uses the same base overlay texture but switches the color or pattern, while a retexture also changes the base overlay texture, but the distinction between them can be very vague.
I think the word recolor is more widely used to describe the whole "making a new color option to a mesh".
