Never mind about the occasional blooper . . . it happens io the best of us . . . at 80 I make my fair share . . and the exercise didn't hurt me at all! LOL. Okay. I have just downloaded lighthot . . . and tested it . . . hurrah! I see what you meant . . it worked fine. I have a new image of my actual painting that is the correct thumbnail size, but shows the painting in it's entirety. Way to go, sweet thing! I will try to keep my promise = no more intrusions on your time.... but my next project is wallpaper teeheee! Have a great rest of the week - both here and in RL . . . especially in RL. xo Marg.

In the Sims 2 I could pause the game when my sim was doing a still life painting and find the temp file. I could then replace it with any image I wanted. Making custom paintings actually painted by my sims. Is that possible? I found the temp file that is created when my sim paints from a reference and I tried replacing it, but it doesn't work.

I saved everything... copied my package over to my mods file and it still doesn't show up in game. What did I miss?

Hey, I realize this may or may not get a response, but I suppose I might as well try. So first, I love this tutorial! Thank you so much for making it!
Second, I'm having a problem that my image appears really cloudy in-game, unlike the crisp picture it's suppose to be, anyone know how I can fix it?

This video walk through was extra helpful, even if it is a bit dated at this time. I was still able to walk through the video and pic up changing/recoloring airt work.

Bakie, I love all of your tutorials, they're all great. Since I've learned so much from them, I send a lot of people over to your tutorials when they ask me for help. And you know, I'm a big fan. lol Recently I had someone question my painting asking me did I run it through BC3 DXT5 compression. I thought that was no longer necessary with .png files (only with .dds files) Which is how I responded, but I still got read the riot act. An American expression meaning I was told I didn't do it right. Anyway. I was then asked did I compress it at all & I replied that I ran it through the .png optimizer on my editing program. So now my question to you is (or anyone else that can help), is there a particular compression for pictures (recolors) as well as should I decrease the color depth? (It's at 8 bits.) Thank you, or anyone else that can help. I'm very confused at this point having done this without question for so long. (5 years)

I'm having trouble saving the package file. Every time I try to save it in the Sims 4 Studio folder, I get a message that I don't have permission and need to contact the administrator of the program to save there. It makes me go to another folder. What do I need to do to fix this? If I save the file in a different folder, how should I proceed following this tutorial?

About the question, I have no idea to be honest. I haven't done it differently either and I barely make paintings anymore. I never compress any of my textures or at least not that I know of also because I didn't know it was needed? If it is at all? I will just keep making the mods I think they work best and as long as not a big amount of people complain about it, I think it's good the way it is. I don't say I would not make them better if I could, but I haven't heard about this before.

I don't know how to solve the administrator problem, but if your file gets saved somewhere else, you can simply open it again by double clicking it and then proceed the tutorial I suppose.

(5 years) .dds are not really needed for diffuse maps (the texture color) as long as you don't use alpha (transparancy). Actually, I find that the PNG files weight less and are easier to export from photoshop - but the objects with transparancy, the specular and the bump maps still need this compression format

Thank you for this information! I certainly appreciate it and will apply it to future projects! (Maybe the person though I use Gimp? I don't know the steps it requires. I've used Paint Shop Pro for years.)
