How to make Custom Paintings (How to recolor a painting)Hello everybody! Want to place your own images on paintings in The Sims 4, then this tutorial is for you! This is also a great tutorial to start making your own Custom Content as it's not that difficult. • As saving as PNG is much easier and faster then saving as DDS, here is what you have to do following my tutorial: At 2.00, when exporting the diffuse texture file, save as PNG instead of DDS. Do the same at 4.40 and 5.56, so save as PNG instead of DDS. You can also use PNG for the Custom Thumbnails and at 10.35 to delete the shiny glass look when exporting that file and when saving it too. No need to use DDS files at all! If you got any questions about it, please ask them here in this topic or in the comment section on Youtube. I got a lot more tutorials on my youtube channel and there're going to be many more. So if you don't want to miss them, please subscribe! If you want to have an overview of all The Sims 4 Tutorials I made on my Youtube Channel, please take a look at my BakieGaming Video Index here on the Forum. You will find links to all tutorials here on the forum and links to all tutorials that aren't on this forum in there.

Thank you for sharing this great tutorial Bakie. And I apologize again for the difficulty getting it to embed properly.

I have paint.net is that program ok Yes, you can use that program too, but I'm not familiar with it. I did get comments on Youtube from people who also used Paint.net and could follow along.

Okay so I did all the steps and made my painting compression 0, now I can't place it in my game even though it shows up; I can select the painting but I can't put it against my wall and it doesn't tell me why ):

Hi Posh-Sims, Did you perhaps made a standalone of a painting which is already a Custom Content piece? It could be that if you don't have that painting in your game too, the item can't be placed.

Hi piratezevelyn, Adobe Photoshop is also the program I use, but it's not free. You can also use GIMP which is free to download and almost the same as Photoshop. Photoshop is a bit more extended though. There are plenty of people who could also use my tutorials when working with GIMP instead of Photoshop, so you could try that too.

You can get Photoshop CS2 legally for free from Adobe actually (not for people with Mac though, due to the change from PowerPC to Intel processors after CS2's time). For anyone interested just google "photoshop cs2 free" and you should find information. :-) I use it on my dev laptop myself.
