Im new to CC editing and people suggested to start with S4S. Im sure I downloaded the latest version 3.1.2.2 but it crash at startup. Windows only reports the app stopped working and thats it. I followed the troubleshoot guide.
Latest version - check Windows 7 is up to date - check .NET framework attempted to install more, says all is installed - check I guess Im abit fuzzy about the blender. I have a seperate blender app version 2.79b but Im not sure how thats related to S4S. Do I need to do something specific to make those work together in order to start S4S? Verified/repaired game - check Game up to date - check S4S has correct path to my game files - cant tell Deleted documents/S4S folder - check Added exception to Avast - check Closed the game before starting - check
My computer: Intel Core i5 7500 3.4 Ghz MSI H270 Gaming M3 Patriot Viper elite DDR4 16 GB PC 2133 Geforce GTX 1080
I assume its either the blender or something with my operating system. Everything else seems to check out.

I'm having the same issue and I thought it was just me. I tried installing to do a batch fix on my cc hair, but as soon as I install and try to open it immediately comes up with a pop-up saying "S4Studio has stopped working" :( .

What about your video cards? Have you updated your video card recently? I've only had it happen once or twice, but sometimes the video card drivers cause s4s to stop working before it starts.
If you have updated your video cards have you tried rolling back a few versions to one you remember it working?

I only read about AMD video cards causing problems. And Im running the newest nvidia version 417.35. I hesitate to jeoperdize my system just for one app.

Completely understandable! I likely wouldn't roll my drivers back for one program unless it was an important program.
I'm running the current version of Radeon drivers on an updated windows 10 system is working ok. I'm also using blender 2.76a (as was suggested to me by others here) and that is working with studio as well.
I just thought I'd mention it since you covered everything else I could think of other than you're running Windows 7 and that version of windows is getting to the point where they're going to stop updating it soon. Hopefully someone else can come up with some more things for you to try.

I dont see a connection between S4S and blender. Its a seperate editor as far as I know. Do I have to incorporate it into S4S somehow?

There isn't a connection between the two other than only certain versions work best with S4S.

I just checked the editors again. I have six sims 4 apps for editing and creating. 5 out of the 6 work. So its either this app or something very specific in windows thats causing the problem.

Still happening. Found the log file:
[12:26:54] [v3.1.2.2] Info [S4Studio.Shared.AppModel.Init[0]] OS: Windows 7 Ultimate [12:26:54] [v3.1.2.2] Info [S4Studio.Shared.AppModel.DoInit[0]] Initializing game files...
My windows knows where the game is located so I assume every program can access that information aswell. My documents folder is where it should be aswell. Ive seen people in the last years having the same problem but no solution in any of the threads.

I found the problem. I installed the app using the zip file. Just now I used the installer and the app works.

So, its been a couple of months and I thought I try it again. Windows is up to date, just updated my graphics drivers, even disabled my avast antivirus shield aaaaaand.... it still crashes instantly.
This is especially frustrating because this is the only tool that can fix my problems like townies using random CC. There must be some way to track down the problem!!
