I look at two tuts on this that are here in S4S. I have tried to follow them as much as possible. I am needing the make the Alpha channel all black. Sounds easy enough, but when I do and import into S4S the pic in the warehouse shows up Grey. So, when I go back into GIMP I make the alpha channel "normal" in the channel dialog it shows up white, but it is black in the warehouse. TSR is not accepting my sets because the two S4S recolorables specular maps are "wrong" because the alpha is not set up "correctly". I am having a really really hard time with this. I am very new to making cc and this is way over my head. I have to get this set correct because I have 30 other sets to work on to make correct so that they will be approved. I am using s4s stuff and s4s and s4s tutorials for making my cc. I have uploaded almost all of those sets on this website and so far no one has complained of having issues. I will also be uploading these sets onto my website. IF I can't figure this out, it won't be good because someone could have issues and I will need to know how to fix it. I just don't know how. How do you make the alpha channel go from white to black and stay black in the warehouse? This is The S4S recolorables 3x1 RGB channels: This is mine: This is what mine looks like in the warehouse: This is what S4S's looks like in the warehouse: I am so confused and do not have any clue of what to do. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give to me.

Hi! Please share your package and edited texture here so someone can take a look an check if it's been correctly saved.
- Specular and bumpmap should be saved as dds dxt5 with alpha. - A matte specular should be gray in the preview so it's fine if you have it like that.

The specular from the rug is fine. It has though a small square in the alpha channel that is slightly brighter.. not sure if that was intended. If not, just re paint the whole layer black again.
As for the rug, the specular belongs to another floor or rug, or probably the one you cloned? The resolution is different than the rug so it's not going to display properly. It should share the same dimensions or at least its percentage of it.
The bump for both files is fine.

If you want @augold45 , you can use my personal specular. In the zip file you have 8 speculars. - 4x4 - 256x128 - 256x512 - 512x256 - 128x128 - 128x256 - 256x256 - 512x512

vero That is so sweet of you! My cc sets are not causing problems for anyone. IT is just that TSR is having an issue with the alpha. I re-did all 31 sets. with a new alpha. I am waiting to find out if they approve the set or not. I am hoping they do. I will also take a look at your specs and see how you did it. If you don't mind. wow! You are a GOD send!

I used for a while your specular file and indeed, they are super clean Never failed with them ... 2) both diffuse and bump are fine to me but I must say specular is not my best part and so, the question is : do you know a website where I could find tutos to learn how to make decent specular for a good render of metallic stuff ? Thanks

Creating a specular is all in manually piecing all the parts together. The best approach is to find an object that has the look you want. for example, metal. Try looking at the bathroom furniture such as bathtub and sink.Once you find the metal look you want, clone that item and export the specular. Study the colors and shadings and apply that to your item. The main layer is composed by a gray texture of the item overlaid with color. And the alpha channel is on a slightly different grey shade.

Thanks for your answers but I was looking for informations about tuts, website and/or more specific explanations related to metal. inabadromance : I already know about the textures in grey and the alpha, etc ... I'm searching to do it for metal stuff from the ground, not only looking other people files. Thanks anyway @augold45 : I'm going to look more deeply this week for tuts/websites and I come back to you to share what I will find ( if so )

by "stuff on the ground" you mean floor tiles? the same method applies. and probably the same color tones of metals used in, example, faucets. it's not looking on other's people's files. it's looking on how the EA has composed their objects and replicate that into your items.

I will ask about the spec maps on those and see if I get a response to how they specs were made. I downloaded the walls as well.
