Is there a tutorial on how to remake backfaces or did I misread step 9?

that is how you remake the backfaces. you have to do it in this order correctly or else it will not work. once you delete the backfaces go to that tutorial.

When I press CTRL and L this is the button that pops up. I don't see a option to delete the backfaces?  |

you need to be in edit mode. once you're in edit just select one vertice and then do ctrl+L

When I select a vertice and do CTRL + L it selects a whole piece of hair

delete what it selects and see if it deletes front or back faces or the whole thing
