Hi 911truthbear, every tutorial I've written that goes over any topic requiring work in a 2D editor uses Paint.NET. Both start to finish meshing tutorials and the tutorial on recoloring a Studio recolorable mesh show how to work in Paint.NET step by step.

jaycxpx If you have the MAC version this is normal. This version is not yet capable to work with Objects. You can only mod CAS items with it. They are adding all the feature overtime.

Thank you Lexi for this tutorial!
I'm such a dummie that I still can't get it right though. I've tried several times with Gimp but the frames keep disappearing. If someone can help me out, I'd be really happy.

Hi varis, I'm not sure from your description what the problem is. Could you describe it a bit more or (optimal) post a picture of the issue?

Thank you for your reply, orangemittens :)I really wasn't too specific. I meant that the wooden frames of the painting disappear once I go back to S4Studio. The new image is there but without those EA frames. I'm not sure if I messed up with the selection tool...
Anyways, I managed to recolor the painting with Paint.NET without problems, yay!

Hi varis, if you send me the package that has the painting with no frame showing, I can take a look at it.

Thank you, orangemittens but right now I'm happy with using Paint.NET. It still means a lot to me that you offered to help

I'm sorry if this has already been asked. I looked but couldn't see that anyone had said it. I've used the same EA frame to make two different .package files, but only one shows up in the game.

Help!
My images won't save! I saved them from paint.net as a DDS file, and then imported it into the Sims 4 Studio, but when I go onto save as, it won't save, and comes up with a dialog box saying that it's not a Sims 4 package, and that common causes of this are incomplete download, or another file was saved over the package.com.
What have I done wrong?

Hi Shannon-Nicole Alexandra, First of all, you can simply save as PNG instead of dds now, which makes it that you don't need to use plugins for your 2D editor software. I made a tutorial myself too in which I still used DDS files as that was the only way how to make paintings in the early days of Studio. So maybe re-try your painting with normal PNG files first and see if the problem is still there. (I wrote a short description of what to change in my video, using the PNG files instead of DDS) Also be sure to have the latests possible version of Studio, right now this is version 3.1.2.2. In many cases when errors appear, simply re-starting your project fixes a lot. Maybe you accidentaly did something wrong or you forgot an important step.

Can someone please tell me how to allow dds plugins for paint.net? Whenever I try to open my file saved add dds file with paint.net an error message comes up saying it cannot open file because it's not a valid bitmap file, or it's format is not currently supported. PLEASE HELP!!!
