So I personally obviously adore it. This update was like made for simmers like me who constantly feel the need to make androgynous sims that fit outside the fashion sterotype. I have always wanted them to do something like this but truthfully I never expected them to do it. I haven't seem to run into any issues yet. But Sammoyke, well he approves .

I haven't downloaded it yet. Actually I still play with the patch that has Easter Eggs and Glowfruit challenge :D. Personally I think this update is awesome. I don't think I will ever dress my male sims in dresses but I will certainly try on many long hair styles on male sims and short hair styles on female sims.

Still waiting for Electric Guitars, Cars...something Cool. EA's decision to become Politically involved in the Progressive Liberalist movement is not only disturbing to me, it will add even more Votes for Donald Trump now. Gender Bender Mods were better done by the Modding Community and not by EA - just my thought.

Kindly grow up and get the stick out of your ass. Anyway. I like it! It's not going to be something I use on every sim but having the choice there, for the sims where I'd like to use it, is phenomenal. Having played around with the clothing options I can safely say I'll be getting so much mileage out of the ability to dress my ladies up in sweet suits - it always bothered me, personally, that I was pretty much limited to dresses if I wanted formalwear for female sims, because I'm really not a dress person IRL.

I guess I don't see this as involvement with the Progressive Liberal movement as much as I see it as reflecting what is a largely generational paradigm shift. In the old school strict lines divided males and females into two sharply defined and different groups and the new school finds that unnecessarily restrictive and potentially damaging. I imagine many from the old school feel the same way their grandparents felt when females started playing basketball and going to medical school and many from the new school don't understand why anyone cares so much about what someone else wears.
That said, I sincerely hope everyone who chooses to discuss this topic maintains a polite tone while doing so. This isn't about people having a stick up their ass nor is it merely about EA and their marketing strategy...it's about people discussing something many people have strong emotions about for a variety of reasons...let's keep it civil.

I Like a Good Laugh, it's a Game.
The Political side is Obvious though, to ignore the Fact that there is a RAGING DEBATE about SAME SEX PUBLIC RESTROOMS in America right now...would be ignorant. To ignore the Current Far Right Wing Trump vs. The Hillary Left... The Timing of the, "Diverse Gender Update", (Better? Best i could come up with on 2nd thought..), is a Subliminal Political Statement.
I just find the Entire Evening after playing with the Update beyond Cynical Humor. I was expecting something else rather than what i received...it is Funny though!
IMPORTANT EDIT: Remember °cas.fulleditmode° Cheat to change your current Sims.... ;°'

So far I'm happiest about the eyebrows, so many more options! It's a subtle difference but I'm getting a lot of mileage out of it. Now just waiting until I can recolor all the different new clothing conversions

A quick reminder that The Sims at the first place was planned as a casual game that's why it had a hidden option in the game for playing with same sex couples and EA never dropped this option ever since The Sims launched. And it was one of the things that attracted many different gamers. It's not like Doom or Counter Strike when you just walk and shoot. You play The Sims the way you see your life and the fact is that many people see their life differently than others. Time goes by and perception of some things changes, like Orangemittens said over the time it became normal that schools are not divided and students can wear whatever they want. So honestly I hope there won't be any debate about is it right or wrong. Personally I think that wearing long socks with sandals is wrong but it doesn't give me the right to critique and tell what other people should wear and and how they suppose to live their life [play their game]. And pleasy-please let's not mention politics, election etc. I think everybody in USA is sick of this already.

I'm thrilled! I teared up when I saw it. I had thought the way they chose to mesh things precluded the possibility and wishing for something like this was fantasy. And the Sims in Maxis' pics look gorgeous to my Maxis-matchy sensibilities.

well i knew there wouldnt be a discussion about this update without it striking up some sort of political or "moral" or religious debate of somekind. Personally I don't think it has poo to do with politics i think ea's decision to do this has to do with business. Simmers has wanted their sims to be more diverse, more customization, more more more more since its release. Over the years EA has tried to live up to the expectations that they built their foundation on. . The world view doesn't actually have a single thing it can agree on accept to agree to disagree its why we move forward so slowly socially to accept people for the people that they are. Platforms like sims pave the way in small , tiny ways to start showing by example that different doesn't mean bad. When you can create a character that does not go by the definition of the gender sterotype and notice it plays and interacts with it's fellow sims literally no different than the rest, it can put things into silent perspective. Hopefully it shares that quiet message that all sims can be different and just as fun to play and that can boil over into the real world. Sims is a game people play to tell stories and creatively express themselves or to piss away a bad day by creating mayhem in towns. One of Sim's best quality is that it's progressed with it's simmers. If you want to see this as political , I say it's because you lack a bird's eye view of it. You see the political issues because it's what is tossed down your throat in media , "right wingers think this way and liberals do this , this way" and depending on where you stand politically you start to hash out your opinions about people's lives as though your opinions somehow old value to their day to day living. If you step back away from what the media tells you about and focus on the smallest of detail of what matters, of what people are truly demanding in society and in life and that is individuality and the freedom to embrace that. SO when you understand and see EA as the money making horse that it is , it's a no brainer that they made this update.

Can't people who vote for Trump be held accountable for their own choices?

Isn't it a political statement either way? If you create a game like Sims which largly centers around the everyday lives of its characters, you will have to think about how you wish to represent society in your game. Do you allow same-sex marriages or don't you? Do you add same-sex couples to the preinstalled households or don't you? What hairstyles, clothing and make-up options do you allow for different ages and genders? And so on. No matter how you decide, you take a side in ongoing debates with the decisions you make. Personally I think they started making a statement in this regard long ago by some of the families they added to some of the sims3 worlds. I do however agree that the patch does make the impression of having been made in a rush (Or am I the only one who has some weird things going on with the male tops and shoes on female characters?), so they might have had another motivation besides pleasing their customers. That aside I am very happy about this update, because it makes serveral items available for both genders which for no apparent reason previously had been restricted to only one. My tomboy girls now have more options for cute short hairstyles and I have some more nice options for business-style tops. Additionally the Scientist and Doctor I have in my game - who are spooves of the Luteces from Bioshock Infinite - finally can wear matching outfits. They are elated and so am I.
