you need to merge by distance the reference, before transferring data. Append the reference, merge it by distance as explained below, then re-transfer the data How to make an item move and morph by transferring weights, uv_1 and vertex paint
Prepare the reference ( done with hair meshes only ):
- Hair meshes are split in many places, which produces a very torn up uv_1 transfer result. It is best to remove those gaps;
- Select your reference;
- Switch to Edit mode;
- Select everything with A;
- Mesh - Merge - By distance, with Merge distance set to 0.0001.

makes sense, since this is something one does not do normally

Yes, yesterday there was a moment when I read reference and thought oh but it means my mesh (?) I should have tried it but thanks for your patience it means a lot, sometimes I spend so long trying so many things that I get a bit short sighted

Hi, I'm here again, I took a break on this hair cause I was getting burned out from it. So basically I ended up doing this (merging the reference by distance before data transfer) back then, and it had seemed to work, I thought i'd fixed the issue, the mesh wasn't torn in cas and it just had ever so slight distortion which i'd thought was only from me not fixing the weights. Well i've finished all my hat chops to the best of my ability and then fixed the weights, but there is still a very slight distortion on the hair in game, so not broken but the strands are a bit bent around the face and front of the hair. I don't know if the hair is still torn, if a another reference would have been better (unfortunately I can't remember which one I used but I'll try others if this could be the problem), if the weights aren't fixed properly or what the problem is now. I know it is so small but I'd like it to look the same as in blender Adding the package and pic

In maxis meshes the hairline and sometimes hair that is very close to the face are affected by morph bones (have CAS in their name ) and are vertex painted with a special color. so what you can do is delete all vertex groups beside head and neck, then select everything and Mesh - Weights - Normalize all with Lock active disabled. After that delete an existing color attribute and create a new one with 007F02

Thank you. I tried this, deleted all vertex groups, mesh weights normalise all with lock active disabled and then added the new color0 with 007F02 deleting old one Then tried importing it to s4s and got a very strange error, tried reopening s4s and saving the blend as another file and it still is the same I'm sorry I don't understand the error 😥 Edit: it is happening regardless of which mesh I import... I'll try a restart to see if it's just a glitch Ok so restarted and an even longer similar error window has appeared

Delete your current version of s4s and install a new one, then try again

Unfortunately I'm getting the same error. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice, tried changing the blender path to another version of blender (then it just wouldn't import or export at all, with infinite loading) Tried exporting the LOD and redoing it and importing again, same problem, tried importing another Lod from before that used to let me and same :( Have tried importing old lod on old package and infinite importing Have tried creating new package and it won't let me export ea mesh.

Hi mauvemorn, The error doesn't say much except that the script failed to get the vertex color. It also has a lot of warnings that don't seem directly related to s4s. moonbiscuitsims can you send the current package and blend file you are importing when you get that error? Also, have you tried with a different version of Blender like 4.1?

Hi yes, it could be my file has corrupted it somehow after trying what mauvmorn said and doing it wrong, but it was also happening with other blends and old packages too. I'll attach it hereI think I used 4.0 or 4.2 which were the versions I have installed. I tend to use 4.0 because of an addon for something else that only works well with this version. This is why I tried changing my blender path on S4S which then just led to infinite exporting/importing I can try with 4.1 when I can Thank you

Hi, update on this, i've uninstalled and reinstalled again, and tried another package first and I'm not longer getting infinite importing or exporting or the error appearing, it only now appears with my package, so I don't know before what happened for it to affect everything, but now it is clear it is only my bad package, which means that I did something wrong, so I'm attaching a video showing what I do when I attempt: "In maxis meshes the hairline and sometimes hair that is very close to the face are affected by morph bones (have CAS in their name ) and are vertex painted with a special color. so what you can do is delete all vertex groups beside head and neck, then select everything and Mesh - Weights - Normalize all with Lock active disabled. After that delete an existing color attribute and create a new one with 007F02" It still has the error when importing this package. Hope it helps, I don't know if maybe this step was meant to be done at another moment of the process or if im not understanding it right.

Try importing the blend file in a different package. If the issue persists, share the blend file instead of the package

Hello, the issue continues on new packages, I just tried again in case and same thing. I had already added the blend to the same folder as the package and vid but I've reuploaded in case it wasn't appearing and removed the package to avoid confusion Hope that helps (let me know if I should also add the blend that is before I attempted this last step)
