So I knew that the holiday stuff pack was available as a free add-on and just got around to getting it.
So I start my game and Origin clearly wants me to be all excited about it - there's a huge animated graphic covering the entire start page. However, this graphic has no way to disable it (nothing is clickable, there is no close button) and it is not possible to access anything else on the page with it there.
So I go to the Origins page. There is nothing that even indicates that I have the stuff pack installed. There is nothing that I can find that allows me to just get back to my old functioning game that I had the last time I used The Sims 4. If I clicked on help, I am sure that the only thing I would be able to manage would be a steam of obscenities and I have zero expectations that even with the most articulate and polite query possible that anyone would even respond let alone be helpful.
Does going off-line to prevent the intrusion work? Heck no! It just means that I can't start the game at all.
Can I go back online and see if the game will be accessible after that? No. Apparently, those buttons do not work anymore. This has never been a problem before. In the past, it seemed that the only thing that Origin really cared about was it's ability to annoyingly spam me right in the middle of game play. But now they've got something that makes me hate them more, so I guess they can back up on that a little bit...
I can't believe I paid good money for a game created by people with this level of incompetence.
Not only do they out-rightly externalize their labor costs to their paying customers, now they don't even want to allow us to use the products we paid them for!
