Has anyone run into this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
I tried removing mods and so on, and it doesn't seem to be the mods problem. What's weird is, even an old save that I saved 2 months ago won't load all of a sudden. So I don't think it's the saved game files that are broken.
The game pretends to load the household then goes back to world selection. But it loaded my game without a problem earlier today. I haven't made any changes, other than disabling memory helper, and enabling script mods. So I changed those options back to what they were before. Didn't help.
Oddly enough, starting a completely new game, saving and loading a new save works.
This is the worst Sims bug I've ever encountered... If you can't rely on your game loading saves properly... Time to play a different game?

Time to play a different game? Yes, it was 1 single hair file that caused the same problem that you are describing. OM and Andrew checked the file and everything looked fine with it. I removed it, started a new game and tried the file again - It's what I refer to as a - "Creeper Bug". It won't crash your game saves right off the bat, there were certain animation calls that prompted the bug to rear it's ugly head. I admire CC Hair and the hard work that people place into those creations - actually using any CC hair, is another story. Of course it could be a combination of things and not just hair, depending on what you have in your Mods folder.... Rock On!

What was the name of the hair? I still can't get my game to work. I don't wanna start over, losing my sims' progress, and especially my neighborhood. There was one really cool house I built for some neighbors to throw parties at. I wish I could at least export my lots, then starting over wouldn't be so bad, everyone would still have their jobs and so on.

I really can't post the name because I don't want to start some Drama...and you know, that's what will happen most times. I would remove ALL CC Hair Files - Yes, I said ALL CC Hair files - now, I have started the Drama...ha! From Day 1 - Nothing but problems with hair files...continuing through the Summer with each and every one that I've tried. This Bug is a no-fixer. You will have to Start your whole Game over, there is no way around it - @ least from what i tried. I am serious when I say - every time that I have been tempted into DL'ing a nice looking Hair file it has given me nothing but probs right off the bat, or the Creeper Bug. I have 0 cc hair - NONE, because I was so freekin' angry from losing my game - not once, not twice...4 times. Ha!ha! It's your call - wish I could be more positive and help you out more.

What about recolors? You said it's some animation bug, would recolored EA meshes still break the game? I started a new game, ugh, it's terrible to play a new sim like this, she lives in a container house. The neighbors came over to greet her and one of them brought fruitcake. He said it was a family heirloom. I thought he meant the recipe is, but the fruitcake tasted so bad, perhaps he was just keeping it way too long? So now my sim regrets eating the fruitcake, asking herself: does anyone actually enjoy eating this poo?
I gotta say I like this new beginning but I miss my old sims. I could recreate the neighborhood but I don't wanna run into this bug again. I don't want to delete all my hairs though. Can you PM me the names of the hairs that caused this problem for you? Maybe it's specific creators using outdated tools. I don't know. I really would like to figure this out.

It was a Variety of Creators, some here - some on Tumblr.; names are pointless to me, in a negative manner of speaking - I know they worked hard to make something nice - no reason to Bash them for trying. What my concern was, and has been, Hair CC is Bugged.
°Recolors - I have no clue.
The main problem with Hair files are that the File/s can look just fine - everything checks out and the Creeper Bug still pops up. In my last case, it took 3 days - off and on - playing a particular Household before it crashed my saves. I have always been interested in making Hair, so you know - DL a good Creator's stuff and look @ it. Play it...check it out. It's a No-Go, for me @ this point, gave up.
Maybe some radical re-colors of hair will work fine, I would imagine there would be no problem with that....I sure would like some of that other hair though...truth be told...(Crying....ha! ha!)
Rock On!

I don't think it's bashing when you point out that something is wrong with a cc file. It may not even have anything to do with the geometry or textures. Sometimes when I make custom things, even S4S doesn't save files properly. One time I made something and didn't even touch the warehouse tab, yet somehow the footprint info got lost and the item didn't work in game. But I started over with a new file, and everything was OK. So it could simply be some random bug, perhaps it doesn't even happen anymore, since S4S gets updated frequently. Sometimes files simply don't download properly. Happens a lot with my browser lately... Maybe it's all my computer's fault, who knows...

Strangely enough, I got the same problem while working on a script mod that had absolutely nothing to do with hair. I changed one line of code and when I tried to load my sim's house, it bounced me back to the choose a neighborhood screen every time. I looked in the "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" folder and the lastException.txt told me that the one line of my script had confused the game so much that it got hundreds of errors and simply gave up. I fixed the one line of code and I could once again load my save game without issue. If you still have the error messages from your game's logs I can look at them and maybe pinpoint what the real issue is.

Hmm I was expecting more errors there. That file resets every time you reload the game. When you opened that, was it directly after closing your game after getting the bug? It keeps a short history (lastException######.txt) but the one without all the numbers is the freshest error report from the last time you ran your game and encountered the error. If you could try starting your game and loading the bugged save and close it right after it fails, that would generate the most relevant bug file. In my case it happened when there was an infinite loop of errors, but if you loaded the un-bugged save and it just ignored this one error and continued then I'm unsure if this error is relevant to problem that bugged your save game.

Wow, you are right, this is different. And this file keeps increasing in size if you don't close the game, after it goes back to the town selection.

Did you have any script mods in your game? Maybe even one that you tried and then removed recently? Or did you uninstall an EP?
