sims 4..is it good?

I came into the series from 4. I like the game and most of the gameplay is ok. I enjoy the style and look of Sims 4 better than the previous ones... BUT... it seems like it's a bit lackluster compared to sims 3. People who played sims 3 find 4 very bland comparatively. I couldn't get into 3 because of the graphics change. I just don't care for the look of 3. Also the recent influx of game pack and kits over expansions has left a lot of people with a sour taste for the sims. The team seem to be ignoring the majority of players wants/needs and going with whomever provides the most money to advertise their fashion or product in game. It's not a problem for me, I use the game as a story telling program more than gameplay.
