Hi! I'm still messing around with stairs, and have gotten pretty good at cloning them and bringing in a new mesh. I can make new textures fine, and can easily make the stairs invisible. However, I'd like to make stairs translucent (any kind of translucent, glass, or whatever, just so you can see through them -- but not completely transparent). I can't seem to find a shader in the materials section of the model LODs that works. I think I *have to keep the 'stairs' shader, and can't switch it to the 'glass' shader or the stairs don't function properly or just completely disappear... I've also tried other shaders like phong-alpha and some other random ones... seems I have to use 'stairs'... so is there anything I can play with in the materials? I've already set an alpha map as a copy of the diffuse map, I've set the alpha mesh threshold at various amounts between 0 and 128, I've tried adding an alpha blended tag, as wel as playing with adding other options like double sided, edge darkening, diffuse mapUVchannel, use vertical self illumination, and I'm out of different combinations to try... So, anyway, I was just wondering if I was missing something obvious? I've also set my textures with an alpha map to very low opacity. I was wondering if maybe Syboulette, you might have an idea since you've also played around with stairs? any ideas to make them translucent? Thanks to anyone and everyone who might be able to help!

Hi there Unfortunately, I already tried like you and did exactly everything you mentionned above, with no chance :/ There's one thing I didn't tried, it's using the stairs from get to work that has an alpha mesh cut (the industrial with the grid). But i'm not sure it will be enough because as you said, we probably be missing the alpha blended..

Oh drats, I don't have the GTW expansion pack so I can't play with that one! I was trying to make Cloud Stairs, and wanted them to be translucent. I have a mesh that looks ok, but it looks silly fully opaque. I guess I'll give up on this idea (arrgh, I hate giving up on a project). Thanks again!

I don't know if this info will be of any use to you but these are the material settings for one of the step pieces from the GtW stairs. Both were using the Stairs shader. This first screen if from the Model resource; And this second screen is from the ModelLOD reource;
