Hi, I was wondering if there was a way I could remove parts of clothing that stick out, like in this dress here:

There are some buttons on the side of the dress that I would like to get rid of. I first tried deleting that part, adding faces in the areas that were removed, and then redoing the lines to try and match the rest of the dress. However, this ended up looking really messy and I was told earlier that it would be difficult to edit the UVs this way. In my second attempt I tried to dissolve the vertices in that area, but it ended up leaving a hole again. I also tried to go into sculpt mode and see if I could at least flatten it using the polish tool. That worked the best, but it still didn't look like the mesh was a bit warped when I checked it in solid view. Also, I assume I'm still going to have problems with the UV if I do it this way? Is there a good way to remove parts that stick out, and still have the mesh look smooth in the end?
