I've cloned (and embedded) a CC that is normally a bottom and changed it to an accessory slot (middle finger left to be specific) so that I can have it along with a fully body or different bottom. However, it's a mesh that reshapes the standard bottom some, and when I move it to accessory it is as if both the standard bottom and this CC are both displayed. So where this CC is larger/adds I can see it, but where it it is smaller/subtracts it is hidden under the standard bottom if that makes sense.
I've tried switching it back to the bottom category to test and it displays correctly in S4S, so it strongly seems to be related to the category. I've also verified that as a accessory in-game looks the same as S4S, so it's not an S4S issue. I am using 3.1.4.4 which is current when I write this.
Can someone point me to a resource to help correct this? I've been trying google all morning, but I am missing the right terms to describe it.

The behavior you are describing sounds completely normal to me. It sounds like you were hoping that the accessory would change the shape of the clothing mesh you put on the Sim, which is impossible. Accessories cannot combine their meshes with the meshes of other content to change their shape. You may be able to accomplish what you want with a body preset or slider, but you can't convert an article of clothing into a body preset or slider just by changing some tags in S4S.
If you what you were hoping would happen is something else, you'll need to explain what it is.

Share your files and pictures, please. Also, S4S does not preview the content the same way as in the game. You can't rely on what you see in S4S, it doesn't have a game rendering engine.

And where it would be bigger than the default bottom the accessory still adds to the shape.
Do accessories and clothing items have different rules for this? For example, I have a top with an integrated corset that is slimmer than without it so I have other examples of clothing being able to be smaller than the default.
Are there any categories that would have the same effect as a clothing in this way - I picked the left middle ring category simply because there are lots of ring slots and I wouldn't mind missing out on one, but there is no inherent reason it needs to be there.

I did go into the game and verify that the items looked the same as in S4S before posting, didn't want to put up a silly question.
Thanks.
