I downloaded the latest version of Sims 4 Studio, however it keeps getting flagged by Windows antivirus as "Trojan:Win32/Spursint.Q!cl" and is automatically quarantined on download. I haven't had this issue on past versions.

Is it the Windows 10 antivirus you have? Some AVs are a bit heavier on flagging presumably safe programs than others. Also, is it the EXE or zip version? Have you tried downloading using a different browser? Could be Windows is seeing something else as unsafe and is flagging the download as well.

It's the antivirus that comes with Windows 10. I downloaded the exe (install) version, and it immediately quarantines the file when I download it. Browser doesn't matter. It's the file itself it keeps flagging, unfortunately. It just started with the recent s4s update.

I just tried both versions, exe and zip (3.1.3.8) and neither the Windows antivirus nor my other antivirus popped up with any warnings, so I'm guessing they're both safe. I have Windows 10 and and use Firefox (with a lot of extra protection), but I don't use the Windows antivirus as my main one.
EXE files can sometimes trigger antivirus programs. It's still strange you're getting a trojan warning though. Could be something is trying to hitch a ride with the file and it's not the actual file but something else trying to download together with it. Or the Windows antivirus is in a trigger-happy mood.

I just tried the latest release (snowy escape), and it isn't flagging anymore. No idea why it was before!

I got the same problem today, but the trojan I got was Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.D9!ml
It's quarantined now, but should I be worried that there are more trojans hiding in my PC now, since I randomly got that one? Really weird, as the S4S file should be safe? I think I downloaded the exe file, but I downloaded the S4S 3.1.3.8 version a week ago and I just got the trojan warning today.

Kesam, did you get the trojan warning related/flagged to the S4S EXE file, or completely unrelated? Are you too using the Windows 10 antivirus?
After you've installed S4S you can delete the original EXE since it's just an install file. Probably safest to do that.

Yes, it's related to the InstallSims4Studio_v3.1.3.8 (Wishes).exe file and I'm using Windows 10 antivirus, but also Malwarebytes. I tried to find it, but I couldn't. Probably because it's in the quarantine section in the Windows antivirus I just hope there isn't anything more hiding in my PC now lol I already ran several security checks, and everything seems to be fine, but you never know with viruses... I'm perplexed as to why the file would lead to a trojan virus when it should be completely safe  |

It could be a false positive, it could be a virus/trojan piggybacking with the file somehow, or it could be the actual file - but if it was the actual file, then I'd think other people's antivirus programs would react too (did Malwarebytes react the same way as the Windows antivirus, by the way? Or did the Windows antivirus quarantine it before MWB had a chance to do anything? Or do you have the version you have to manually scan with?), and most likely more people would have the same problem.
It is kinda weird.

Yeah, true. The fact that only a few people have experienced this is adds even more confusion.
I have the version of MWB where I have to manually scan. Wonder if MWB would've reacted quicker if I had the full version. Windows' antivirus reacted after a whole after, after all.
As mentioned, I ran several checks and all were negative, so I'm just crossing fingers that the threat is eliminated lol Btw, thank you for your replies!

False positives in antivirus and other security software are quite common, especially when you download executable files from developers too small to make it onto lists of known software.

Yeah... false positives on TS2 files has been quite common, for instance. Back in the days I had an AV that would quite frequently quarantine an older version of Bodyshop (not the one I actually used - there were different versions shipped with each EP). Still wonder what that was about.

Much safer than surf any internet website with tons of ads. Many antiviruses are paranoid. |
