I have a question about something I've been thinking about and not sure if this is the right place or not. If not, please advise or move it- honestly looking for some feedback. And let me add this: I'm not trying to draw attention to another site, simply asking a question about the potential for something like this.
I know my limitations with blender. My knowledge of vertices, of faces, weights, and other aspects of blender are, let's say, preschool level; however, my longing is for better knowledge and better understanding so that I can create more than what I do. All I manage are recolors. I want to create something new. I want to add glass to textures- in fact, as I write this, I would LOVE to create a stain glass room divider. However, my chances of doing this are slim to none. In fact- more like zero.
There are very talented Sims artists out there. My mouth hangs open at least six-seven times a week at the things people make and post here and TSR. I post here in hopes of help with conversions of Sims 2 or 3 packages and posts in search of help with ideas and as I wait, I go through all the tutorials in hopes of creating my own results, because that is what I really want. To be able to do it myself.
However, there are some of us who are not blender savvy and probably never will be no matter how many online courses we take and there are some great online courses for blender (cgcookie.com) - still many of us will do our thing because our knowledge of blender will never equal that of others.
If a forum site were to become available, much like Sims4Studio, for people actively looking for collaboration on a project, conversion, help in understanding blender, people who could give some of their time to aid other Simmers- would anyone think it would have a chance?
Would appreciate any of your thoughts on this- and like I said, I'm not writing this to promote any site. Simply something on my brain this afternoon.
