Forewarning, I'm quite new at object-related shenanigans haha.
So I had placed an object that sims are meant to interact with within an arch (specifically using the stained glass one from RoM, but there is a problem with all the arches that I've tested). When initially attempting to use the item without any modification, the sims have an issue accessing it, as something is understandably in the way. I looked up a tutorial on here a while back about removing footprints for another project with the Spa Day waterfall so that my sims could walk through it, and it worked. When I removed the footprint of the RoM arch, however, my sims were still having troubles accessing the object I've put in the arch.
I've tried the following (all to no avail): - Deleting the wall the arch was in. - Putting the arch and object in a different location. - Deleting the footprint of the object itself. My sims could walk through completely, but still couldn't interact with the item as something was still in the way. - Resizing both items (idk if this would do anything, but it was worth a shot).
The only thing that did work was putting the object in front of the arch, but that kinda ruined the whole point. I feel like I'm missing something and it's in a guide somewhere, but I'm not sure what keywords to look up to find it.
Any ideas? Thank you! :)

It could be that the routing slots are being blocked by the arch or object. Look in Rigs and slots and see where they situated or you can look at the rig in blender. Compare the rig on the object that you want to interact with and with the one in your new project, it might show you what the problem is.

Would you be able to provide a picture of what you are working on? That will help us better understand as well.

I had recently downloaded SweetTacoPlumbob's RoM portal edit and from the GIFs posted with the download link, it seemed to have been working with the arch I wanted to pair it with, but in-game it wasn't. When I noticed there was a routing issue, I tried moving the portal elsewhere but it still hadn't worked, then tried pairing it with another arch. So, remembering the footprint removal I had done with that waterfall project, I thought to try removing the arch's footprint in hopes it'd be a quick and simple fix, and we all know how that turned out haha. Here's what it's looking like in-game: freeasabird the routing slots from the arch appear to be blank? Idk if I'm reading this right but it says: " "RoutingSlots": [], " and that's it, it then goes on to EffectSlots. Just checked, it's also saying the same for the portal. Am I looking at the right place?

I will be honest with you I know very little about routing slots, I have moved 1 or 2 and had success but I don't often make anything that requires me to move them. Effects (eg bubbles) can be moved usually fairly easily, I don't think they have much of an impact unless they are interactive themselves. I know that Coolspear has a portal that has a lot of effects around it. Although it is not up to date it might help if you had a look at where he put his routing slots? Be warned tho, his mods are works of art and have a great deal of detail to them, still it may be worth a look at least. Coolspears Portal Link

Are you trying to use the portal that takes you to the magic realm or one of the other portals that needs a partner exit portal placed to function? SweetTacoPlumbob does say on their post that they have not tested the portal that takes you to the realm so it may just be broken to begin with.

freeasabird ooo I'll give checking that out a try! Kinda paused with that at the moment as the website doesn't appear to be letting me register juuust yet, but I sent over an e-mail. c: menaceman44 aye I did see that mentioned in the post! Tried using the portal version with the partner exit to send my sims over to a basement with the default RoM portal inside as a workaround, but the routing issues were still present. The portals (+the RoM one) are working just fine standing alone, without the arch, or even just slightly adjusted to be in front of the arch. Perhaps the routing of arches somehow changed in-between the time of the mod's release and now?

If you can't get in to DL the portal I can give you a direct link to it. I know there was problems registering there a while back.

The routing slots appear to also be blank. ;A; aaaaaAAAAAAAAA
I think I'm just gonna leave the portal as a visual effect at this point LOL. Thank you lot for trying to help me with this. <3

Damn it! It must be slaved to the in game one, there's not even a rig to look at. Sorry I had no idea. edit; I exported the mesh to blender, the rig shows a 'ctnm' bone dead center inside the portal.
