Hi!
I'm desperate for help. I'm pretty new to making cc and so I've only dabbled in recoloring so far. It's all been good. CAS clothes and some inanimate objects work fine.
But now I'm really struggling with this stupid soccerball from DU. I just wanted to recolor it as well. It shows up in the game fine and sims can get it in and out of their inventory. But if you try to actually use it, the sim just stands there staring while the ball is "active" in it's queue.
I'm guessing you have to do some tuning or something to get this to work, but now I've spent hours trying to figure this out on my own and by googling/watching youtube, and it feels as if I've tried EVERYTHING!
Please help me, I can't spend even more hours staring at this stupid ball hahahah.
/Angelica

Share your package file. All you did was recolor it, you didn't delete or change anything else?

Here's the package fileJust recolored and changed to custom swatches, the name and text in the catalog and the colortags. I've tried JUST importing the recolors and not change anything AT ALL too, but that didn't work either. (that's not in this package file, this one has the custom swatches etc)

I tested your soccerball in my game but noticed I have this issue with other items as well. My sim just stands there and does nothing. Perhaps it's not your CC that conflicts but something else.

Yeah, maybe. But if the item is bugged in general, then the original objects shouldn't work either right? Because it does in my game!

Add 1 swatch and test it in your game, if it works then add the rest. If it doesn’t, then the soccerball could be bugged in general and it’s not the fault of your recolor .

If it doesn’t, then the soccerball could be bugged in general and it’s not the fault of your recolor . yeah, I've tried that too Ok I think I found out what is the problem : I made a quick recolor of the soccerball (just gave it a fruit pattern) and added it in my game. Turns out my sim isn't using it! Just adds the soccerball in inventory and stands there. Since the active skills goes up and so on. I think the problems does not lie with us, but with EA. The animation for the ball is completely gone.
But 1 thing is for sure : it's not our CC that caused the bug!
But the question is now : what causes it?
Do you have any other CC in your game? Or heavy mods such as the Command Center?

Yeah, that is exactly what happens in my game as well.
I do. I have a bunch of CC, MCCC and WW! I can try to start a new gamefile with only the ball, but I don't think that's what's causing the issue. I'm just guessing but from what I've gathered googling, it could have something to do with tuning the object. But I have no idea how to pull it off correctly. I've tried in a different package, but it's just exactly the same as before. So either I'm not doing it right or else it's not THAT either.

So I tried creating a whole new The Sims 4 map and just adding the ball as the only CC or mod. It's still the same. I did get this moodlet when I tried using the ball. This also happened in my earlier game file but I didn't think much of it (that sim actually have the active trait so I didn't connect it). This sim doesn't have the active trait so it's strange... imgur.com/DDf8n4M

Have you tried an override? I have a theory as to why it's not working but will look into it in a bit.
That moodlet is a known bug. I think someone made a fix but I don't remember who.

Ah thank you SO much! I've tried doing the "selective clone" option but not the override! Oh, okay so that has nothing to do with it at least haha! :D

Glad it now (finally) works! I liked the patterns btw :D

So thankful I got this to work, so I don't want to ask for too much haha.

I'm thinking this may be a similar situation to trying to recolour the toddlers building blocks.
Technically speaking I believe the ball is two objects. The one you buy and place from buy mode, and then an accessory version that the game uses for the animations.
When you create a recolour of the ball you can buy from buy mode it does not also recolour the accessory version. So when you go to use the recolour the game can't find a matching accessory and so the animations never play.
Although if my theory is right then what should actually happen is that the Sim should still use the ball, it just wouldn't match the colours of your recolour. It would default to the design you used as a base instead.
So I could be completely wrong here but it reminded me of a similar issue someone had a while back with the toddler building blocks.
