I'm totally new to Blender and made several things already but I really don't understand most things about the software. I can't seem to find any good tutorials with long dresses for the Sims 4. Does anyone know any good ones that may help me? I found this one by Christoper067 but it's way to fast that I can't seem certain actions
I made my dress mesh in Marvelous Designer 9: Looks okey I'd say. Until you upload it into S4S :D
Could be worse I guess. But I know the problem ( I think at least). I noticed all clothing/dresses is 'closed' at the feet part. Like this. And that's not with my mesh. You can see the whole legs etc. But can't find anywhere to how to 'çlose' it. Most vid's are speed ones and I'm not able to see all those actions and handles done ^^'. I did found some video's but most never explain what buttons they use or what actions they will do. Very annoying. I really want to make a new shape dress because Sims 4 itself doesn't have much A-line dresses meshes (or none)
Thanks!

Your problem is that you didn't give your mesh a CUT number

Your problem is that you didn't give your mesh a CUT numberThanks! My mesh is still in progress . But is that the only problem? I think it’s more then just the number or am I thinking it’s worse when it’s not? 🤔

Hi there! I make long dresses with MD meshes all the time, and I agree, it's really hard to find good tutorials on it! As sigma1202 said, you need to give your mesh the appropriate cut numbers and it should import into S4S just fine. I'll go through how I close the bottom of the dress quickly here, hit me up if you have any other questions. Select the bottom edges of the mesh: Then extrude the edges (click ‘E’), then either Click ‘S’ and type in 0 to connect the edges or scale them (‘S’) towards the middle and use Fill (‘F’) to make a new face connecting them: Then unwrap the new faces, do UV1 and weight transfers and so on, and your dress should be closed at the bottom. Also, and this is personal preference, I usually exclude the feet part of the body for any dress that covers them to avoid feet/shoes bleeding through in game. To do this, go to the Warehouse tab in your S4S package, find the line that says ExcludePartFlags and edit the number from 0000000000000000 to 0000000000000100. There’s more information on excluding mesh parts here.

Sifix You are my hero! I did exactly what you and closed my dress and the bottom <3. Then I cut it into 4 four pieces and gave them numbers so S4S would recognize the parts. It's pretty.....Brown now haha. But it doesn't recognize the parts it seems. If you want you can take a look at the mesh here : drive.google.com/open?id=1fdBywKViL1CbrXre-TmZR0j-KWrJT132I'm at least 1 step further thanks to you Sifix, thank you so much! <3

Glad I could help. The problem you're having with importing the mesh here is that your .blend file has 5 cuts - the body (s4studio_mesh_1) is its own separate mesh, and it needs to be joined to the dress. You should start by selecting s4studio_mesh_1, going into edit mode and deleting all the faces that are going to be covered by the mesh since they won't be visible in-game anyway. Since this is a full-length gown, you can delete the entire bottom part of the body, as well as some of the top. It's pretty late here, so I did this quickly just to show you; there might be other faces that can be deleted as well. So select all the hidden parts, like this: And delete them, like this: Then you need to join the body to the appropriate part of the mesh. In this case, that's the top part, so select both 'dress 1' and 's4studio_mesh_1' by shift-clicking, then selecting 'Join' on the Tools - Edit tab. When I did this, I noticed that your dress doesn't have the appropriate UV maps, which means it won't work correctly. For instance, that's why your dress is suddenly brown. Your mesh should ideally still be in one piece for this, so you can either go back to a previous version or just join all the mesh parts back together, go to Edit mode, select all vertices and hit 'W' - Remove Doubles. Ownplumbob's Marvelous Designer clothing tutorial has more information on how to organize the UV0 map (which is basically where the textures go) and transferring UV1 maps, and here's a guide to weight transfers. I've got to switch off for the night, but hopefully this should help you in the right direction.

I use 2 panels , 1 with my work and 1 with the EA mesh so I can copy numbers.

Ignore the texture because it's.....not what I'm planning to make . But this may sound like a really noob question but. I downloaded the UV files (I prefer PNG) but I can't find out how to paste the images on the UV filter image.
I'm gonna use a tutorial also by Christopher067 how he made earrings, it should apply on certain things as well I'm a very slow learner and some things are easier to see in video's ^^'. You are such a great help so far, I cannot thank you enough!<3

Not a noob question at all, that’s exactly the kind of thing I struggled with figuring out to begin with and was too afraid to ask. To get an image to show up in your UV tab, you need to click the tab I marked in red here and select the image you want to see. And toprevent the image from changing when you change modes/select a different mesh part, click on the little pin icon I highlighted in blue. (I hope that’s what you were asking haha, English isn’t my first language, sorry!) From your .blend file, it seems like you’ve already figured out how to import new images, but just in case, you either click ‘Alt’ + ‘O’ or use this menu. I’m more of a read/write learner myself so I unfortunately don’t know of that many video tutorials, but if you haven’t seen it already, Laupipi also made a start to finish Marvelous Designer to Sims 4 video that you might be able to pick up some pointers from. Your dress looks really great so far by the way, can't wait to see the final result!

I really wanted a different shape of skirt for a dress since the Sims 4 almost only has mermaid/trompet ones? I don't have all stuff packs but I highly doubt there's a very wide/A-line shaped dress with them This is the preview that I made with the current mesh: Somehow I still wasn't satisfied with it ^^'. When my mesh is completely finished, it will come in 15 colors :D. This mesh is by Shakeproductions. I hope my mesh will be fine once I did the scaling down and the UV's , still struggling with that . Somehow my mesh doesn't have a "mesh for uv1" when I append it.

Another problem. The upper part won't get textured (haven't added texture because it's not working yet) Looks like I can only add texture to the bottom part. And I wanted to follow another tutorial here but I don't seem to have a Mesh for uv1 file when I append my dress mesh :-S.
