I wanted to find out the upper limit for swatches on a given item, so I did some fiddling with S4S. I cloned a wall covering and added 200 swatches to find out what would happen. Here's what it looked like in-game: cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/664278278479151169/666511300666589216/200_swatches_-_242_MB_-_156_visible.pngOnly 156 swatches are visible on a 1920x1080 display. I did not encounter any other problems or crashes (although the cursor displays a red X where the catalog thumbnail should be; not sure what's causing that since each swatch has a thumbnail associated with it). After this, I decided to add a further 300 swatches for a grand total of 500. Got the same results as before. Worth noting, of course, is the more swatches you add to an item, the larger the file size. The 200-swatch wall is 2.42 MB while the 500-swatch one is 6.03 MB. As for what the absolute limit on swatches is, I don't really know yet. But at the very least there are more than enough swatches to work with so you don't need to worry about 'running out'. I think the biggest takeaways from this are 1. keep an eye on the file size and 2. don't give an item so many swatches that the catalog itself trails off the screen.

I'm actually realllllllly annoyed seeing stuff with over 10-15 swatches. Like, even ten is just fine IMO. I downloaded a CC set yesterday and each object had 50 swatches. It lagged my game hard and I know my computer is probably poo, but having 50 color choices is just overkill to me. I usually go through swatches of content I really like and delete the redundant or less important ones. For that set that had over 50, I just deleted it entirely--regardless of how much I liked the kitchen set--it just wasn't worth it to me. Anyone else feel the same or is moe swatch moe better the words to live by? :P
