So I was thinking after reading your comment about off grid cooking, I totally agree by the way. Gas can cook anything.
But there is something that has been annoying even more; the bbq pit. Its a hole in the ground (free) filled with hot volcanic rocks (free as they live at the base of one) and uses banana leaves (leaves are free from trees) to wrap & cook food. The whole thing is free apart from the little grill over the top that I'm sure isn't needed, its an Ice Age slow cooker basically. So why is it a S1000? S1000 for a hole in the ground?
I have been considering modding it, or the price at least to make it reasonable, say S40 for the grill What do you think, would others want this?

Ok I'll bite. The Grass, game lighting turns grass and 'evergreen' shrubs mud brown during Autumn and Winter and maybe a little in Spring. I truly hate this. I play in 28 day seasons and the psychological effect of brown grass and shrubs for so long is depressing. So much so I only play the summer season now, I just use the weather machine to turn the season back every 28 days. Grass can't turn brown due to cold or limited winter light, its alive or dead. Brown grass only comes about in the summer from lack of water. I haven't noticed this. I use K-Hippie's terrain replacements, and the terrain seems to look fine through all of the seasons. Maybe you could try that? The terrain is more realistic than the game's painted on look, so I never play without it

There are some things that has always annoyed me in the game: 1) Simulation lag. Why does it exist? Why do my sims suddenly stand still for hours at a time? Who in their right mind would stop what they're doing and stand like a statue, then resume their task an hour later? And if I try to control them and make them do something, they refuse to do it. This happens even with the simulation lag fix mod, so it's really something the game developers should try to fix permanently. It has always, always been in the game.
2) Ghosts. If a sim dies and I invite them back into the family, they go around and destroy everything. Especially child sims, it seems. They always want to possess showers, toilets, and bathtubs, and they always break, even with upgrades. Also, the family doesn't seem to mind that a deceased relative is now haunting their house. They have no reaction to it. That's a bit of a wasted opportunity there. Also, child ghosts still have to go to school, and they can still be removed from the home if they fail their work! It's not ideal for wanting a ghost to stay close to the family and have fun all day. They still have to do their homework, go to school, and all they do at home is break everything. I like having ghosts because the transparent body is really cool, but it's a pain to always repair plumbing and look after them. They still have needs too, for reasons unknown to me.
3) Random phone calls. If a good friend is calling one of the adult sims in the family, that's okay. It's understandable that a friend would want to talk to their friend. However, if a complete stranger calls one of the children on the phone and asks to come over, that's where the problem is. This really does happen and there's no logical reason for it. If I accept, then the person comes over, grabs a book, and sits down and reads it. That's all they do. Sometime later, they set the book on the floor and leave. What is the point of this?
Okay I'm done. That's all I can think of. These things bother me, especially since it's probably fixable, but I don't mind them too much. I can live with it. It's more about personal preference than something that would prohibit gameplay (although... the lag is a problem). With that said, this is meant to be a lighthearted post and I have no problems with the game itself :)

Yes I have them, although they don't work on the new Island for me, not sure if it's just me or everyone. I agree they are brilliant but the lighting causes the muddy grass/trees colour. I went to the Glade secret lot in the middle of winter and there the light is always pink, the sun never sets. The trees and grass remain the same all year around, it was this that made me realise/suspect that it must be a lighting effect colour or something EA uses that causes this horrible affect. The bushes and plants have an overlay that makes look muddy as well. My outdoor plants that have no overlay (and never will have) look washed out during the winter. K-Hippie's textures are great but even they are affected by the seasonal light change in my game, not quite as much as defaults though. Just thought about your ghost kids, don't send them to school or make them do home work and see what happens? What more can happen to them? I hate the lag too, just upgraded my hard drive and have a completely new Sims install and for some reason its very bad. Before my upgrades I had hardly any lag at all apart from the 3am freeze. My Sims have never done the standing still thing like they are now. If I'm off the home lot I always look for homework or chess players and reset them as they cause a lot of freezes. Both Cassandra and Alex Goth have had their homework deleted along with 4 others

Yeah I agree, the whole thing should be free, seeing as the grill is made from harvested things in nature technically. It is mostly based off the way Polynesians traditionally cooked their meals for their tribe and what not. I enjoy using it, but the price is ridiculous, then again I often build and create sims more than I play the actually game from beginning to end. I never notice the prices, but now that you mentioned it, that thing should be free since you would make it from things around you where you living on an island. And if you want to price it and require money to buy, 40 Simoleons sounds like a good price.

I fixed the price as I thought why get cross, get even instead Here's something that's a bit odd or probably not really thought out. The Island people show friendship by sharing food. Their festivals have two kiosks and the BBQ pit, but I have found that after a season (I play on a 28 day cycle) most of the NCP and a lot of the Island families are overweight. Even the mermaids are waddling around. So far I have been sending my playables to the gym, on account the others are stalkers and so follow and work out. It's a good idea but I wish the food wasn't so unhealthy for them. I also wish they wouldn't turn up at 10pm with a plate of 'normal' food under the guise of the 'Extra Food' thing. I never see normal food in my games its excellent and above and my chef has a fridge well stocked. In real life that would be seen as a bit of an insult to some. But the thought is generous and sharing food seals friendship and family ties so I can see where they were going with it.

I haven't seen the Glade since I got Seasons, but I imagine it does stay consistent. As for ghost kids, they can be taken away for poor school performance. I had my sim do her homework and go to school every day, but she was removed from the home. It'll probably happen if I don't send them as well.

I got really angry about this again yesterday, so I'm gonna rant a lil bit about it here: it annoys me to no end that in the gallery the selection of the packs you own doesn't actually change anything. I still get shown all the results with stuff from packs I don't own (and I've heard from other people that they have the same problem - does this actually work for anyone?). I don't own any stuff packs and not that many expansions/gameplay packs either and I just want to find some forking lots/sims that I can use without having to redesign them completely basically. UGH!

Oh my gosh, yes. The filters in the gallery don't work at all, and they've never worked as far as I can tell. I gave up on trying to filter by the packs I own and just look for base game creations, or I don't bother looking at all.

Is that a new update? I never had this happen to me and always only see the packs I bought. I have all packs except for their newest one Moschino stuff, simply because it is not something that would get a bite from me. The new clothes looked rather plain nothing special, I could find similar build/buy stuff for free on TSR without paying a dime, and it just seemed to lack in 'worth it' content, not really giving any new features or anything.
Moschino Stuff is probably one of their worst attempts at a Stuff Pack in my opinion, aside from having Sims 4: Cats & Dogs and My First Pet Stuff separate of course. They want 10 USD for the thing on Origin and it is not even worth that much I would say. It would be more worth 5 USD at Most and Free at Least.

The more packs a person owns, the less obvious it probably is. But back in 2015 when I bought the game, I only had the base game, and yet I'd see builds that had packs in them. Filtering by owned packs never worked for me. This is nothing new... it's just harder to notice if you bought new packs along the way or have a lot of packs. That's probably why you've never seen it. I saw it four years ago, and it's still there.

Completely agree about Moschino, the CAS items are all so boring or ugly, some of the Build/Buy stuff is cool, not worth that much money though... but I don't care much for most of the other stuff packs either, I wish I owned more of the game and expansion packs, but I'm too broke

Give it a few years, eventually you will have most or all of them. Just save up your money and when you have money to spare, go ahead and buy the ones you want most. I recommend though before buying any Sims 4 pack to watch some reviews on YouTube by well known YouTube Simmers. And look at it from your view to see if that is something you would use.

Yeah for CC creators it obviously makes sense! (hope you didn't feel like you had to explain yourself haha) I only had the base game until a few months ago and then when I got a new job I finally bought some packs when they was a sale and I read so much about all of them before that cause I was afraid of spending money on the wrong ones :D it definitely depends on how you like to play, I for example am not much of a family player, so packs like Parenthood that many people love is not really something I desperately need (I bought Seasons obviously, GTW, CL, C&D and Vampires... it's really not many but at least I'm happy with the choices so far. Saving up for RoM already! And still really want Island Living too..)
