Sims 4™ Cats & Dogs
First we will talk about Cats and Dogs... Not those types of cats and dogs, the expansion pack called Cats and Dogs. Sims 4 Cats and Dogs is basically a lite version of Sims 3's Pets Pack. Difference being they did not include horses and if I remember correctly has less stuff than the Sims 3 Pets did.
•Pros and Cons•
Pros of Cats and Dogs:
1. The Cats and Dogs pack makes the game a little more realistic and alive by bring two of the most popular real life pets into the Sims 4.
2. You are able to paint your cat or dogs fur to make some pretty crazy, cool, or just plain weird fur patterns. It comes with a variety of different shapes to paint your own custom fur patterns with plenty of color choices, both realistic fur colors and unrealistic fur colors.
3. You can train your dogs in agility and build your own agility courses where you can practice with your pooch and become an agility champion.
4. Cats and Dogs adds a new interactive job to your options in-game. You can become a vet and run your own custom built pet clinic. It adds some fun tech you can mess around with as well like a pet medication making table, a surgery/x-ray machine, and an examination/check-up table.
5. More décor! If you are more the type that spends most of your time building things and decorating the interior of them, then you may be excited to know that the Cats and Dogs EP comes with new wall stickers, posters based on memes like "Hang In There Kitty", New Curtains with paw prints, bones, and fish skeletons, and a bunch of new country side style build objects.
6. It comes with a new world to explore. If you are the type that gets happy over new worlds, Cats and Dogs does come with a new world to play in.
Cons of Cats and Dogs:
1. It is pricey. As with most EP packs the best time to stock up is when Origin has one of their sales, many Sims 4 things are rather over priced for the content you get with it.
2. No ability to breed and adopt off. If you wanted to breed your kitties or puppies and then sell the kittens and puppies, hate to break it to you but you can't. You can adopt animals into your household, but you can't sell them off if you where hoping to play a breeder story. You can still breed your pets, but once they have their kittens or puppies, that is basically the end of it.
3. No more Dog Houses. If you where hoping to make a kennel in your yard for your pup complete with a food bowl, bed, toys, and a dog house you can still do that minus the dog house. This is not that big of a deal I am sure for some, but others may not like that so it would be good to know that they no longer have Dog houses. Cats get tons of cat trees to play on, but the dogs get nothing but a toy box, bed, and food bowl.
•Expectations Vs Reality of Cats and Dogs•
Expectation: "I can have horses too!"
Reality: There are actually literally no other pets other than dogs and cats.
Expectation: "I can train my cat in Agility as well!"
Reality: Actually you can! Cats can run agility courses as well in Cats and Dogs.
Expectation: "I can play as my pet!"
Reality: Unfortunately you can't without mods... Unlike the Sims 3 Pets, Sims 4 Cats and Dogs for some stupid reason does not let you control your pets. For many this was a disappointment. Myself include.
