Hi stuff, I'm not sure which items you're referring to. Can you give me an example of an item that causes Candy to crash after you clone it and then try to reopen it? If you send an example of an older item that is crashing Candy the issue can be investigated. It's fine to PM me with it and that is better than sending a link. Unfortunately, if there is no error message, it is impossible for me to tell what's going on. All I know is that something bad is happening but what that is, is a mystery. Example items may help. The new version of Candy Apple is up now. This version removes the dependence on the Mac Sierra OS and returns to El Capitan. If you are on the El Capitan OS, please grab this version.

One of the examples would be BG News Stand street deco . Each time I try to clone it, S4S crashes (but saves the package). Then it crashes again when I try to open the saved package. Here the link to package I've just created: link
EDIT: just upgraded to 1.2.0.4 (even though I'm on Sierra) – same thing happens. Unfortunately for me it's even slower then before, so I'm downgrading (probably because it was meant for El Capitan). My main issue with Candy Apple is that scrolling in Warehouse is virtually impossible. Also, I have to close it after working with one package (before opening another) – otherwise I can't even switch through swatches.

Hi stuff, the newsstand street deco object is a debug item that has no catalog description. Candy (as it is fairly new to working with objects) was not expecting that so it didn't know how to handle the empty field. The next version of Studio will be able to work with items that have null fields like this without crashing. Optimization will, of course, be an ongoing task.

Thank you so much! It doesn't crash anymore when clicking 'my projects' but it is incredibly slow. Is it just me experiencing this and if so, does anyone have a reason why this could be happening? thank you

Hi piesims, I'm glad to hear the new version solved the crashing issue for you. Others have also reported slowness, so this is an issue that will need to be investigated. What would be helpful to this process is specifics about what particular steps are slowed. So, for example, after clicking to open Studio, does the app open promptly or is that process delayed? Does the clone list populate promptly after choosing what type of project you want to make or is that slow? Does the save package process take longer than expected or not? Does the model viewer page come up promptly or does it take too long? How about importing meshes and textures or scrolling through swatches? Details of this kind will help to hone in on where optimization needs to happen first.

Hi again orangemittens, everything works at perfect speed when you're going through the cas, objects or poses and it loads amazingly. But when you open the project, it immediately is very very slow. It's not for any exact thing in that part but it's for the whole thing. So slow that I can't zoom in into the sim to see the preview, but also that the preview doesn't even show up because of its slowness. The whole thing is just really slow and it makes it a lot harder to work with. Hopefully, we can find the problem soon! 8-)

So is there any news? For me S4S doesn't crash anymore but is so slow and sometimes unresponsive that it might as well crash. Am I the only one with these issues, is it working again for everyone else? Thanks

Or what information can we provide in order to help find a solution?

The next Mac version will have the following changes that will hopefully address some of these issues:
1. The texture compression code has been replaced with the (newly released) Mac version of the texture compressor that the Windows version is using. This should significantly speed up anything that has to do with viewing images, exporting them, and importing them (importing was the slowest before and is now very fast).
2. Updated the tools used to compile the Mac version to the latest stable version. I had to use an alpha version before, at first to support High Sierra, and again due to a bug in the stable version. It is possible that there were other issues with the alpha version that did not affect the Mac I am working on but did affect other setups.
3. Disabled the image thumbnails in the Warehouse tab. After speeding up the image processing, the Warehouse was still slow on packages that had lots of images in them. I found part of the reason and fixed that, but until it is completely optimized, I think that it is better to disable them. This speeds things up a lot scrolling through resources in the Warehouse.
4. Fixed a bug that caused packages to not be fully closed. This would result in Studio getting slower and slower with each package it opened, even after closing the package until Studio was completely closed and re-opened.
There are also some other small fixes like crashing on previewing certain objects like the ones in the debug menu.
The new version will be available by the weekend if all goes well.
